My fil and bil went to Mexico on a trip, and each bought a 20 dollar Cuban. Fil says it was the worst damn cigar he's ever smoked, haha. Said he'd stick to his Phillies. :D

Cuban cigars are like any other cigar... You like some, others not so much. Being a Tampa native, I've had many brands of cigar. Some were expensive, some were very cheap. Cuban cigars are like coors beer used to be around here. You cant get it, so it was a black market item, you had to have. That is IF you can find someone that has them. The end result, the chase was more fun than the end result.

Just MHO.

I like the red better Dubz. I think it gives it a "Rocky Mountain" look. The shutters really add something. If you can score a couple of pallets you could make some board and batten shutters for nothing.

We kept saying that last night. The green looks good, but there's something about the red that's cool. I was Google imaging shutters last night, and came across the board and batten shutters. They also had the "decorative" shutters that were pretty cool.

Happy Independence day, folks! Man, it is shaping up to be a beautiful day here in Indiana. Its nice and clear and I don't think the temperature is supposed to rise much above 80 (F).

Happy B-day America! Keep up the awesome!

Dubz, I really like those board and batten shutters. those do add a nice touch, and if you make it so you can actually close them will give you a way to secure the place a bit more in your absence.

We talked about that as well. Would be nice while you were away. Can't decided if I like the close weave b&b, or the open weave b&b. Or the closed, with a design cut into it, like a pine tree.

I haven't smoked anything for a while, but there was a few months where I'd drive around in the country and smoke Swisher Sweets. :D

Back in my growing days I used to get the wood-tipped Swisher Sweets, dump out the tobacco and fill 'em back up with leaf and shake. Turns out the flavoring is in the wrapper, so it worked out nicely.

First thing I did of course was brought out the stripper...:D

Always wise to wait till the wife is gone. Also make sure the stripper leaves before your wife comes home...

I think the shutters are a nice touch.

Me too. That will also make it more secure against storms and critters when they're away. Old, aged pallet or barnwood with sealer on it might look cool for those.

it does, doesn't it :D

Very well said!!

I have had several Cuban cigars over the years...... The first one was a huge disappointment because it was so HARD to find and then it was no better than most the hand wrapped Dominican cigars i could get in a second. After that i had little interest in Cuban cigars.... And funny thing is, once i stopped caring about Cubans... More started coming around.... Funny how that works.... I tried a few more here and there... but none were really anything SPECIAL....

I use to be pretty into cigars, but i was going through them too quickly, and they can get expensive, so i traded my stash of cigars here on BF for a couple knives and no longer smoke them for the most part.... Except maybe on a special occasion or holiday or something.

Lots of people use cigars as a status symbol, but me.... I smoked them alone so it was no "status" thing... Still i found my favorite ones were Gurkha Centurian Double Perfectos... And those are not cheap.

Now where you "growing" or "growing" ;) LMAO !!!! :D

I have always preferred papers myself. But back when i was younger i did go through a little phase of using cigars for other purposes.... It didnt last long though, it changes the flavor too much for me.

But what i hate seeing is someone using a good quality cigar for pot.... Now they ruined both. And probably made a unicorn cry in the process. :D

Don't most high-end cigars, Dominican, Cuban, and other use Connecticut wrappers anyway?
I used to ride my bicycle around (not within) those CT tobacco fields in high school.

Wife and kids left me alone here today.... I guess they are going to the wife's dads house for the day and staying till later for the fireworks.

I didnt go to sleep until about 6am this morning and woke up about 830 with a note on the night stand.... It basically says i can have a free day... Or call and the wife will come pick me up....

Hmmm........ Tough one

:D

Cigars are great... lets just face it. I honestly dont care if it cost 35 cents or a bill I like em! Swisher, Rocky Patel, White Owl, Gurka, Phillies, Punch, Black and Mild, DE Acid, etc etc etc I dont discriminate... Just smoke LOL!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy fourth, I honestly cannot believe its already here! I swear yesterday was over in a blink.

Speaking of yesterday here was one of the "conversations" I had with my daughter yesterday, completely normal....

Me to my daughter who has constructed a sophisticated ladder system in the kitchen: "Please dont do that baby your going to fall and hurt yourself."

My daughter: "It wont hurt that bad daddy!"

Me: ".................."

Good luck to you sir! You've got your hands full.

I'm not saying all Cuban cigars are bad mind you. Just the fact that they were wanting to try out a "high end" cigar", and were very disappointed. I understand that there's many different brands of Cuban cigars.
