No I never have. Had used domestic goat horn before but not those guys. Thats interesting on the lineage.
mountain goat horn as a knife handle material? Brother and I somehow managed to draw the same mountain goat hunt this year in Alaska. Slim odds for anyone to get drawn, much less hunting partners.
Fun fact for goat fans: mountain goats are not true goats and they’re more closely related to the chamois, serow, and goral (goat-antelopes is how they’re lumped) than to the domestic goat.
Finishing off the sheaths today for three Mestanos with Osage Orange. I had orders for two so thought maybe ought to make another too!
What kinda steel did you go with on those? The Mestano has been on my “that looks like a terrific knife” list, in Osage Orange no less.

That Gordo is developing a nice patina! Great pics!
Thank you, it certainly does take a nice patina. I am thinking about a model that might complement the ones above, likely 26C3 again. Maybe after Blade Show. The variety between the three is intentional.
I'm in the process of ordering up some more 26C3. I'll get going on a batch of them pretty soon. I think a Ranchero might be a good next one. Just as the Mestano is sized down from the Cowboy, so the Ranchero is sized up from the Gordo.
