Thank you kindly pard. The Black Walnut on the two knives you mentioned looks really good amigo. As you've mentioned before the Turkish Walnut on this Cowboy has lots of subtle things going on with a light red tint in the right light. A reallyNice pic amigo. I use the two different types of walnut. The Turkish walnut you pictured and the Black Walnut on the Elk Guide and El Toro above. I have really good supplies of both. My suppliers? The Turkish Walnut is from stock cut offs from a custom rifle maker. His rifles start at five figures and rapidly hit six. The Black Walnut? From Home Depot believe it or not. They were left overs from some shelving projects we were doing around the house some years back.
Thanks Amigo, great pic. Just for info that handle is from an American Black Bellied sheep. A guy raises them to train his cowdogs.
Thank you Ed and sure glad ya like your new knife. It is unique. This beauty of a Mestano was delivered today. Both scales are Osage Orange. Dave had made 3 of these on his recent builds, and described the scales on this one to me. I decided to go with the different colors and glad I did, they have such character, really like both sides, what a unique knife. Beautiful work as always. This will be a great addition to my 2 Vaquero’s.

Did a search on those sheep as I've never heard of that breed before. Very interesting breed. They grow some awesome horn. I guess they are even used for trophy hunts in Texas. This triggered my memory that I had a Lamb as a youngster in 4H. Don't remember how that came about. As we had cattle didn't raise sheep. No one in the family had sheep. Didn't know anyone who raised sheep. Anyways I had a Hampshire Lamb in 4H and did well with it in the local Fairs that summerThanks Amigo, great pic. Just for info that handle is from an American Black Bellied sheep. A guy raises them to train his cowdogs.
Thanks pardGreat pics from both of you guys!
