Horton Knives....FIREARMS CHAT THREAD 3

Pauli, can you use that to adjust the pivot on a Horton folder?:D

LoL Brian - Jeremy already made fun of the hex cavity.

Apparently it works and to get more violent expansion the cavity can be filled with paraffin or bullet lube.

Apparently no 2 lol - you can match a 12ga slug at close range with 400gr hollow point bullets.

The hex socket pictured above weights 613gr lubed and gas checked...700 grain if cast solid. The cavity is so big you have to be carefull not to fall in it lol...

I just like casting my own bullets - something about shooting your own projectiles that is satysfying...

The new normal?

I pre-ordered one of these:http://texasweaponsystems.com/id1.html

And put it on my Saiga AK 74.

All In can say is WOW. I sure wasn't getting the accuracy this gun is capable of with a red dot!

Looks like too many toys, but they all have their place. (For now)

Had to go with 1" rings because of the 40mm front and the rear sight assembly, so I got the see-through Burris rings. You can see most of the front sight except for the top of the post, but it is only for severe emergencies.

I really wanted an inexpensive mil-dot scope, variable, and not too expensive, and the local gun shop had this Nikon 4.5-14x40 for 289 plus tax.

The red dot didn't go on the fore-rail with the scope, so it is off to the side, but it works there.

So far I am please. 300y groups in the 5" range today, maybe even better, but the target had a lot of holes in it and I want to be sure before posting. I was wobbling all over the place too, trying to balance on the mag and range bag. I need a rifle rest!

330 rounds downrange today. What a blast!!!

It fine for shootin' ganstas! Lotso' ganstas

But yeah, you have to rotate it a little, maybe 30 deg.

the other option is to try the left side and see if my left eye picks it up, but then I gotta move or lose the flashlight to the other side, so I am trying it out here. Probably someone has the "right" answer, but I don't know what it is yet.

You are not going to believe this group was shot at 300y! With an AK. Best of the day today, for certain.

I wouldn't have believed it.

Nice shooting Tom....

So my dad made me this shooting plate....

I took it to the range first time this past sat...

We shoot at it with 440gr Cowboy loads out of the .500 (9.5gr of Trailboss)

Then my friend nailed it with the 613gr hollow point pictured above - sent the plate / the hanger flying 10':eek::D back lol (at 50 yards) - you can see on the bottom left where it hit the plate...

Then it went down hill - we took the VZ58 out and shot a bit of 7.62x39 surpuls...

The plate got cratered and the hanger got shot off - I'm not even gonna mention anything to my Dad as he spent a bit of time cutting and welding it up...

Lesson of the day - mild steel and surplus ball ammo don't mix :(:(:(

Nice group...

I got this back a couple of weeks ago. The bi-pod mount had to be fabricated because the forend of the stock is too thin for a stud.
