Horton Knives, G rated, Knife Discussion Thread

something along those lines would do nicely. You have ideas? I don't care as long as it meets my criteria from my last post and has more handle than blade

Well I have beat the Campblood and it performed an then some.
Trimmed some trees up to 2 1/2" branches then some vines (bittersweet 3 1/2") then an old oak board 1", that took away the platinum edge. Then back to the oak plank to try the tip and put a hole in the plank (tip zero damage!). Don't have a strope yet so broke out the mouse pad and some superfine emeryclothe but couldn't get it to shave. Today I said F**K it and decided to cut some rope 3-1/2" lengths braided, placed the blade on them and pushed down (Clean smooth cut right through). Then split a 6x8x17 chunk of seasoned oak into 1x1s(no batton) I don't know what I did but the Mofo is shaving again!!
the band breaker has chopped wood,8penny nails and copper and aluminum cable ULc29 and UL a24(no damage!).

I think I will satinize her just for ease of mantainence.

Jeremy you make one hell of a knife!
Thanks again
No pics yet my camera is a cheapy and seems to take shi**y upclose pics

This is a great review Shadow! Thanks for doing it.
I really enjoy reading about what people are doing with their Blades.

That's cool, just not triple serrated. No ones twos or threes please. Let me know when you have the bandwidth. Btmarlowe at gmail if you need to get at me.

I'm gonnna be makin them and giving them away to my good friends, your on the list bro

You rock my man...:D

Me and the wife are both going to be ordering hoodies when you get to them. Black on black if you make them that way...

Jeremy,

Can you explain Goode's differential heat treat compared to the triple treat you do on the compound?
Please.

Jeremy probably has more insight besides this, but I think a differential heat treat is supposed to increase toughness/flexibility of the blade. I am not sure if Goode does anything different or special though. I'm not by any means knocking the differential, but I've never had a problem with a fully HTed blade.

Its the way O-1 is treated,, you heat it upto temp and dunk it in oil.. I have never made a O-1 blade, A-2 is a air hardening steel,, You would never treat it or D2 like that, just O-1. Its just a matter of preference,, some people think a knife is no good unless you can bend it 90 degrees without edge damage,, I'm not of that old school of thought, but its something a little different

Thanks for the data J.

:rolleyes:I believe it is.

Jeremy has been grinding away in his spare time, and we have all been cheering him on.

We are about to see some wonderful new choppers, the Camp 2(s).:)

There are also rumors of a run of smaller "SPDR" knives.:D

He is just completing a run of his BEDCs, too.

It's "good times" in Hortonville.
