I have both a Baer and a Brown. The Brown is my favorite.

Smaller grip
Higher grip
better dehorn outside, but especially inside
better sights
better magazine

cons:
I like a tighter barrel bushing (so I fit one)
Sight dovetails are cut pretty large, so red loctite was in order.

Never held or shot either but I like the looks of the Brown better than the Baer - My Colts can shoot better than I can so no need for me to spend another grand or two on an education

Rick nice score. I have always wondered just how good Kimbers are. I have had a lot of people tell me my Springfield is every bit as good. I still would like to shoot one some day.

My new (I have 2 now) AK 74 with scout scope setup. Gonna try some lower rings when they arrive today, but you get the idea.

And ... drumroll please ...

3 shot group, 100 yds, milsurp ammo, almost 1/3 inch center-to-center!

Cool guns guys. I like the Colt and the ak
Shoot the Sig P220 today, looking forward for shooting the P220 super match saturday.

the funny thing is: I tried Hornady ammo, letting the barrel cool between shots - 1 inch group.

milsurp ammo, letting the barrel cool between shots - 1 inch group.

heated the barrel by going "bangbangbangbangbang," and then shot 3 shots in quick succession w/milsurp ammo - 1/3 inch group.

I guess it just loves abuse!

nice work Tom. I wish more people would take the time to see what their AK's can do. I bet most would be surprised

A friend invited me to go deer hunting and I just got my permit (this will be my first deer hunt). Does anyone have a shotgun recommendation? I already have a 870, but for what a new barrel costs I'd rather buy a new gun. Thanks.

BBT I hear you on the cost of barrels. when I use to gun hunt downstate in the shotgun only zone i used my T/C muzzle loader. Dunhams have been having sales on 870's. A two barrel combo 26 inch vent rib and 20 inch fully fifled barrel was $369 plus tax. You load a 12 ga with some premium slugs they are effective out to 125 yards. You can easily get 3 inch groups at 100 yards. More than enough for any deer that has an 8 inch vital. Just my 2 cents but I think the 2 barrel combo is a better deal than buying just a barrel for $200 plus.

870 is what I normally use. is illinois a "shotgun only" state?

Thanks, yes shotgun or bow

+1 on the 870! Great action.

Thanks Pepper
