That is cool maine, i like the bezel alot!

Yeah but with longer runtimes because of the extra cell,. If anyone needs flashlight pouches for their Surefire's. Get at me, I will see what John has made up,, he has a lot of lights to make off of too,

Okay, I have a legit question for the flashlight elite. I actually do own a brand-name light, but it's an oldie Surefire 6Z incandescent. I have read elsewhere that a Cree R2 assembly will transform my light into a brighter LED. So... questions:

Are there multiple kinds of Cree R2 assemblies? Or just one?

If there are different output ratings, how do I know what will work with my light and its two CR123 batteries?

Okay, I've been Googling a bit. Still don't know exactly what I'm looking for. Here's one option I found that suggests, for $9 + S/H, I can upgrade to a 200 lumen LED. But I wonder if I'm getting a quality assembly/bulb. And I wonder if it would eat batteries.

The Surefire brand upgrade is quite a lot more expensive.

Found this one... I assume I want single mode?

Yeah, single mode should do it.

Though those Malkoff dropin's are pretty nice in their own right. ;)

Okay, so the Malkoffs are better quality and you get decent run-time? Am searching candlepower now for Malkoff threads...

I subscribed so I'd be notified when they're back in stock. Thanks for the info.

I have one of those, nice little classic Surefire.:thumbup:

Wandering through the Quantico PX today, saw a line of Surefires created just for Marines ... with Marine symbol.

Saw a 6P at excellent price, so I bought it.

Of course, it's only 80 lumens. But it can do that for 11 hours on a pair of batteries.

I'm starting slowly and carefully.*

*Not really. My first 'tactical light' was the free world's first high energy laser testbed. It made a real mess out of the southwest desert.:)

OP, if you want a shout when those Malkoff drop-ins restock, let me know.

150 or so extra lumens for $55 sounds pretty good to me.

I'm kind of pumped about the prospect of the Malkoff upgrade.

This is the Malkoff Devices P60 style dropin with solid brass heatsink construction. This design utilizes a Cree 8 degree optic. The optic has a very nice balance between throw and spill. It is an outstanding room lighter and short to medium spotter. It was designed specifically for use in SureFire 6P, 6Z, C2, M2 and G2 flashlights. It may or may not fit other models. The input voltage is 3.8 - 9 volts. Below 3.8 volts it will drop out of regulation and run direct drive. The output is 235+ lumens. The current draw is only 750ma at 6 volts. The runtime is 1 1/2+ hours on 2 CR123 primary batteries. It will easily illuminate objects at 350+ feet and will blind opponents within a 100 foot radius. The LED is a Cree XRE 7090.

WARNING: This light is capable of causing eye damage at close range. Please use the light responsibly!!!

Dammit! You flockers have managed to suck me in!!!

Buy buy buy.
