Damn Mang - How far does this light sheeeeet go? I have more than enough financial indulgence in knives and guns - I'm gonna have to throw another log on the fire to compensate for the extra lumens :D

Hell if I can't see what I need to see with 230 lumens I'll either stay home or pump a couple of extra rounds in the dark corners:eek::D

Amen to that.

Hey Brian, whats your take on RCR123's? I've kind of shyed away from them because of the explosion/fire stories. Do you use them? :)

I don't use them yet. RCR123 are tricky, if you use protected ones the explosion/fire risk is dramatically reduced, but they are slightly longer than regular RCR123s so they don't fit it all lights. Protected batteries also don't work well in all lights because, by being protected, they can't be overcharged or over discharged, which can greatly effect the battery life (the over discharged part). RCRs also come in 2 voltages, some lights work with both batteries, some don't. See what I mean about tricky.

I like to EDC a 1 or 2 AA (rechargeable) powered flashlight and a CR123 powered tactical light. 95% of the time the AA gets the job done, and it uses the same batteries as my 2 way radios, GPS, etc. The CR123 is used only as needed, not as a general task light (keeps the battery use down).

I you decide to use RCRs, call your light's manufacturer to see if recommend them in your light and which ones they recommend.

Could be. They seem solid ... but they have SO MANY different designs. It baffles the mind.

I know what you mean and there are so many great options across a long line of manufacturers:thumbup:

I can't even begin to comprehend most of the concepts you have a complete understanding of. When you figure it out can you let me know the best flashlight to get???:)

Thanks OP

The Ta 30 is most impressive,!

Thanks for the heads up! Have you checked out the Surefire U2A?

The one with the SSC P4 LED? It is a stunner. :D I know it is only rated at a high of 100 lumens but it hangs with some of my 300+ lumen lights. Six levels of brightness adjustable by a ring. Low around a couple lumens. Since I picked this up my search and obsession for lights ended immediately.

Give it a try if you haven't.

.

I just got the Lx2, 200 lumens on high,15 on low. The coolest thing is that it is tiny and the beam pattern is tight, not floody, it really throws the light out there.

That looks like an incredible light!!! If I did not have the U2A already I would go right to the LX2:thumbup:

I like lights that throw and the U2A with the P4 is a thrower. That is why I like the tigerlights so much also:)

The U2A is my everyday light for the ability to have so much out of a small package that I can fit in my pocket. The Tigerlights stay charged for walking the dogs (They throw, point out stars with them). The Wiseled is for when I need to light up the ENTIRE FIELD at once. It THROWS a WALL OF LIGHT like you would not believe. Go in the woods at night and turn it on...Daylight:D

I may have to make the LX2 my next light!! Thanks for the info Pepper:cool:

Which Wiseled do you have and did you mention in an earlier post that the beam pattern is unique?

I have the Tactical 1500. I don't think that I mentioned anything about the beam pattern. What would you like to know about it? I could take beamshots if you like.

BTW, before you all think I am nuts (or more nutty), I got mine at Tacticalsupply.com at a LARGE discount a while back.

Is the beam pattern solid?
A beam shot would be cool, especially with something like this beast.
I think I will work on beam shots through smoke, haven't tried anything like that yet.

Sounds like a cool idea! Gives us a reason to play with our cameras:D

Here is my U2A that I EDC. If I recall the low was actually 1 lumen and the high 120 lumens:

I will work on some beam shots, and maybe if the weather clears later I will do some comparisons down to the wood line at 100 plus yards. I will post up what I come up with when I am finished.

Can't wait to see the smoke pics:thumbup:

Chinese, what!! It's cool maine,we will all be speaking the same lingo...in time.

From surefires website they say how the M6,500lumens, was/is used by spec ops to signal satellites! They use a red filter in the application.

Wouldn't that be a cool beam shot!
