How about a Camp knife challenge ?

Noshtero,

That looks awesome man. Congratulations on jumping in the sandbox to play with the big boys in this competition. Really, really cool.

Alrighty, here's the Noshtero Knives contribution.

Your knife looks great to me my friend, :D

…a real contender.

And your makers mark is fine as is, no need for a billboard, just a little touch to let us know where it came from.

Thanks guys! I'm really not low self esteem or anything, just trying to show respect to those who've been doing this a lot longer and are WAY better at it than me.

Feel free to tell me what you think of it. But keep in mind, I ain't changing it (till after testing anyway). :D

If this knife makes it back to your shop and you don't keep it, I WANT IT!!! Seriously, nice work and an awesome design:thumbup:

Hey guys. I'm heading out of town until the 6th of October now. I may pop in now and then as I have access, but there's a possibility that I won't be on again until the 6th. So if any decisions need to be made by the participants, I'll go with the majority on everything.

Looking forward to seeing the progress when I get back.

Thanks, JC in SC.

I had said earlier that I would be donating this knife, but since it is O1 instead of CPM3V, I can't release it as my work but only as a prototype...*shrug*

But hopefully this will see production....probably not until next year though...:(

OK. Here's what I got. Its my Hunter model. The steel is 01 toolsteel. The Hunter is a wide bladed knife. Its 9.5" OAL with a 5" handle. This one wears custom burlap micarta from Shadetree (Fod). Its also got red liners, a brass and red bullseye tube, and a brass mosaic pin with red filler. All pins made in house. The grind is the convex sabregrind. No flat platten involved! A leather JRE sheath is provided.

I made a camp knife thats carryable, yet able to handle common camp chores. Camp kitchen work, batonning firewood, cleaning fish, and bushcraft chores, and even self defense are a few examples. It will be able to do light chopping, but isn't intended as a chopper at all. At camp, you'd probably have a heavier tool for your chopping fun.

Noshtero-

damn fine. I like it a lot. It looks to me like it's going to perform just dandy. The sheathwork, tell your dad, is fine. The braided stitching is a REALLY nicely done touch!

And now off to the other thread
