How about a "Show your GEC model 73's"

Michael, I have seen that shield called a "corset" shield, but there may be other names as well.

Ok, here's 3,,,, yep 3 first year runs (2006) of the #73. Rogers Green Tea, Sheffield Tobacco both in GEC brand and 1 Northfield Herringbone jig. Then the first year of the Primitive bone in Northfield brand from 2007.

... here are the other two I recently got in the mail - love each of them - great pattern and design!

I prefer the two bladed though.

I think I recognize that ebony one Andi ;) didn't want to let that go, a lot of history on several different continents (nothing bad), glad it has found a good home.
my only #73 at the moment:

I´m glad to know from whom I got that knife. That UN-X-LD was on my list for a long time. Especially due to the nicks and the ebony covers that are rarely used on Northfield patterns. When my bet is over, I will use to carry it frequently.

Good to know that I got it from a good home. :) Please PM me which continents you are talking of. I´m almost excited about that beauty that is waiting in my drawer for further use...

Dallas is getting their arss whipped so might as well post a picture. My only 73, my first GEC, and one of two GECs I use for my work knife...

That would be a great worker for sure. I like how the Spey blade blends right into the handle when closed. Just an ideal design!

Yep, basically the same patterns using the lock back on some and the bigger 23. As many of you know, back in the early days GEC used only this shape or pattern and that was all that was offered for the first 2 years.

Thanks, I will look for it and I agree, we need more of that.

Jim

Justin is right this particular one is called gator bone. They make one called reptile bone as well that looks very similar. From what I've been told these scales were made by Culpepper and are from the days before GEC made their own scales. Thanks for the compliments I'm very fond of these scales as well and wish GEC would offer some new patterns with this jigging! :)
