How brand loyal are you to Spyderco?

BTW, Rijbak's are being discontinued, and I have NEVER EVER been as pleased with a knife right out of the box as I was when I got mine.

I just want to let you all know the Rijbaks are not being discontinued. It is a great model and they sell quite well. The rep here at BT that gave this info has been tarred and feathered accordingly! *just kidding*:D

Yeah, I received an email from their prez yesterday stating the same. He also answered a question about them coming out w/ od green scales in the future.

I like framelocks and lockback knives. Have a Sebenza and its a fantastic knife, but the thing is very spendy and I don't see myself buying a whole pile of them. There's other outdoor gear thats in the 'fun budget' too. (I'm more of a user than collector.) - - When it comes to production locking folders, right now I'd say that Spyderco is the first company whose products I look over. I've been very satisfied with the ones I own. (And recently I bought my first Spyderco fixed blade - a Moran drop point. I am very impressed with the quality of knife and sheath.) Regards, - - -

I'd rate myself a 1 or 2. I will not refuse to buy other brands, it just happens to be that I have a lot of Spydercos right now. I like to support them as a company as much as I can, but I can't afford to go out of my way to do so. Right now there are only two or three models from Spyderco which actually interest me.

Since the "hype" of getting my Spyderco Military has settled down, I'd have to say that I'd fall back down to a 6 as a buyer, and a 7 as a EDC user. I really do like my Benchmades, and my Commander is starting to look good (thick tip unlike my military).

However, I did manage to EDC my Spyderco Military for the 30 day mark that I was waiting to break. So, I finally broke my old record of EDC-ing a single knife for over 30 days. Now it's back to benchmade, and several other not so known knives, to see which one will fill in the almighty "The One" niche.

I am probably not "brand loyal" to anyone any more. As a kid I had Case, Shrade Walden, Gerber.... you name it..... and I was glad to get them. When I got old-er.....I started out with Benchmades many years ago. That was about it.

What really got me to SPYDERCO was their Rescue knives. I had one to begin with........ NOW, with the SALTS........ I have a bunch and just ordered several more assorted ones this AM.

What I really like about SPYDERCO.. besides the knives........ is SAL and his on hands approach with the Forums and the end user. And then add the Mule Team Project to the whole thing......... This all speaks volumes to me as an end user......... And from my experience their customer service is top notch also.

I still like my BM's but my SPYDERCO's do not take a back seat to them in any way.
My .02............ ;)

I am a big fan of Spyderco, and like Teacher, am a huge fan of the rescue knives. I carry a Spydie rescue type blade of some sort every day @ work. They have preformed flawlessly for me in that role. So when I'm working my brand loyalty is 10 of 10.

For EDC, I'm a 7 of 10 guy. There are so many good knives out there that I can't be just a Spydie-guy, but a majority of the time I am. If he'd wave that Kara, I'm sure that would increase to an 8 or 9.

After meeting Mr Glessser in Eugene this weekend, I am very happy to be so brand loyal to such a true gentleman.

9, because there are some nice/useful knife designs made by other companies too
But Spyderco is the one that has the magic for me, and gives me the best feeling

I would say that I'm a 7 or 8. I own a couple of Benchmades, but over the years,
definitely would have to say that I've owned more Spyderco folders than any other make.

I'd say nine.

The only thing I long for on the higher end is Chris Reeve, and there are a few other fixed blades I like, but that's about it.

Solid 9 here. I've tried really hard to like other brands and I keep coming back to Spyderco. The only other brand I carry is Victorinox.

After careful deliberation, I believe that my old post of being a 6 as a buyer and a 7 as an EDC is wrong. I have been buying/trading and all that I was interested in was Spyderco :D.

I'd have to say that I've moved to a 9 for both. I've been carrying my Millie after the one day that I tried carrying my BM grip. It's not the same using other brands after you get used to the quality of Spyderco. I'm currently waiting on my D'allara that I bought off another member here. Once I get that it will definitely be the Manix that I'm after. I can't stand the wait!!! It should be here Tuesday.

Brand loyalty is re-evaluated on a purchase by purchase basis.

I am only loyal to excellence, in quality, quality control and customer service.

IMHO loyalty to a specific company as a consumer for any reasons than reason that do not promote an excellent consumer experience from top to bottom.

If I do not get this every single time then my next purchase most likely will not be with that company no matter who it is. NEVER forget who and what these companies work for. Me and my money. I SAY LET THEM ALL EARN EVERY SINGLE DIME.

Lately its been a nine, I have been buying nothing but spydercos for the past few months.

I would say for one hand opening folders I would be an 8. Occasionally I buy a Kershaw or a Buck but that's about it. I'm loyal not only because of the care of the customer, but also the quality of work, and the form follows function type of design. I also appreciate the ethics and being able to talk right to the President of the company. Plus, for me, there is no better opener than the Spyderhole.

For fixed blades I would say a 1. I am not brand loyal at all. I prefer Ontario RAT or TOPS fixed blades however.

As far as slipjoints go, I am also a 1. I however do buy quite a bit of Victorinox. ;)

At the time of this post, I'm back to a chisel ground folder. That's my favorite blade style. I wish Spyderco made just One model.

I have no brand loyalty at all. I buy knives that appeal to me. That many come from a few companies and very few from others, simply reflects the common design philosophy of me and those companies.

I am big on Spyderco, but I am not interested in most of what they sell. I carry a Military almost as much as my Sebenza, but I don't own an Endura and wouldn't take a Captain as a gift. Nice knives, not my type. I just got a Temperance in today. Why did it take me so long ??? :D

I have bought Kershaw long before the present era of AO and Ken Onion. Yes, now they're even better :) But I don't look twice at most of their knives because I'm not interested in filling up shelves with knives I won't get around to using.

I have too many of those already. :p

It's good to develop confidence in a company for its quality and service but ultimately it comes down to whether I will like and use this knife. In some ways I have more confidence in my fellow knife knuts than in the manufacturers. We discuss more than the steel, we discuss the use, and the associated gear.

Hey, I gotta go. I have a kitchen full of food I need to try my new Temperance out on ...

I hold no "loyalty" to any brand. However, great service and great products will always keep me coming back. It's just not so much a "loyalty" thing to me as it is great products.

Edit: Wow, who would have thought someone with the same opinion would post the same minute as I did.
