How brand loyal are you to Spyderco?

I am a firm 10.Since I got a Spyderco in a trade about 6 months ago,I buy nothing else.No need to.

Does anyone know where I can get an old Delica..the one with the plastic pocket clip that was discontinued a few years ago??

Two days ago when I started to read this thread I felt about the same. But later I realized that during last year I was not able to find any attractive knife made by any other brand, I bought about 30 spydies and I spend more time on Spyderco Forums than with my family. This made me think that I am spyderholic.

A year passed. I bought couple nice Kershaws just to check: Blur SG2 and Mini Cyclone Ti/ZDP 189. Good looking blades, excellent fit & finish, great materials, also I find out that I hate studs , Mini Cyclone is too small for my hand to hold it secure (finger choil would help, but it doesn't have it). I sold both.
This my experience make me believe that I am really Spydernut or or just Spyderco is making the best folders in the affordable for me price range.
BTW, now I have 40+ Spydies and one SAK.

I would say I'm a 7. I used to EDC a Police until I snapped the blade in two, then I was firm with the Kershaw clan and bought a fair amount of them. Recently I've carried a SAK Soldier, but decided I wanted a locking folder again. So I bought a Lava and I think the Spyder guys have lured me back again!

Probably a good 8 for me. I have a decorated Sebenza, and I'm pretty partial to Victorinox SAKs, but 5 out of 8 of my folders are Spydies.

Honestly, I'm about a five. I was an 8ish but Kershaw has put out some nice offerings lately. I think we can agree they are the foremost innovative knife companies. Long live the Spydies!

About an 8 now, judging by my recent buying habits.
I like some Benchmades(the ones which DON'T look like Spydercos), but the Spyders come in so damn many different shapes of blades and handles, and different materials and locks and I keep buying more.
Right now I have:
-Civilian
-Mini-Manix
-P'kal
-Chinook 3
-Military (S30V, serrated)
-Lava
And two more in mind right now(can't say which or it won't come true:)).

I'm 10 all the way.

Bought my first Spyderco in 1992. Then bought lots of Cold Steel and SOG, with a few other brands along the way. Then I went back to Spyderco.... in a big way. Have not bought anything else in 4 years. I look at them, I pick them up, but I always buy Spyderco. It is my passion in life. I'm at 57 Spydercos and still shopping :)

something like 3. (9 about the Mule Team I suppose)

I really like Spyderco's ethics, but if I like something from another brand that Spyderco doesn't provide, I'll still buy it. About an equivalent product in their and a less ethics-respectful competitor's line, I'll choose Spyderco's. I mainly buy their knives because I like their design/steel/locks/ergonomy (in no particular order).

This way, in my last Knifeworks order, I bought 2 cold steels (True Flight Thrower, my 2nd one, and a Mini Pal, because they're cheap and do well what they're meant to do), a Victorinox Electrician, a Buck Hartsook (Paul Bos HTed S30V small fixed blade for $22? I don't like the edge angle but I'll try to regrind it to 30°). I also bought a Lightweight Axis, because even if I have thousands of dollars of knives at home, I still don't own an axis lock knife.
Don't worry, I still bought my 2nd Cricket (etched and PE this time) and a Tenacious in this order, and a Stretch 2 on eBay.
I'm also a mule team fan and I think I'll buy most variations of the Urban, if the funds are strong enough.
I currently own 17 Spydercos (soon 20), 2 byrds, and 3 of their sharpening systems (Sharpmaker,Pro-Files,Duckfoot)

I was going to be an 8 or 9 but now I'm back to 0. I never paid attention to Spyderco until a couple of weeks ago when I used a co-workers Native. What a great little knife! Very stout, strong blade and a handle that allows you to get a firm grip from many different positions. I bought a Native the next day and love it. We all have different things that appeal to us and I liked the fact that the Native was American made. Buying American made knives is my preference. I know that the Byrd line is imported and that is fine because it's stated up front that the knives are imported. Fresh from the thrill of my Native, I ordered a Dragonfly online and received it today. Imagine my suprise at seeing Seki-City, Japan on the flip side of the blade. I'm tired of manufacturers not being forthright in the origin of their products. If they are so proud of their products, why not clearly state made in Japan or made in China? Why not show the flip side of the blades in the advertising pictures with Japan, China or Tawian right out there for everyone to see? They will all howl and moan about their standards and quaility control being the same regardless of where the knife is manufactured but the truth is they don't really want it that obivious because too many people will turn the page and move on.

I buy most of my knives online and am getting tired of things like this. I do not wish to spend my money on knives made in Japan, China or Tawian and do not appreciate manufacturers not being clear about the products origin. This includes Buck and their flag symbol. Why are you so afraid to put IMPORTED in your ads and descriptions?

Unless I actually handle the knife first, I won't be buying any more Spyderco knives.

i like spyderco a lot, spydie and EKI are my 2 favs, i dont buy strictly spyderco though by any means..........

I guess you could have your own personal reason for not buying from Japan, but just remember that the factories in Seki can put out a product AT LEAST as good as the American ones. To me, models like the Caly 3 feel just a bit more refined then many other American knives.

I say I would fall about a 7. I prefer Spyderco and Blade-Tech for folders and since Blade-Tech doesnt make that many models I own more spydies. For fixed blades I am like a 10 for RAT Cutlery. I agree with enjoy the blades I do not buy foreign made products whenever possible. I agree that the Seki Japan knives are excellent, I still carry my ATR made there, but it was one of my new years resolutions to stop buying foreign knives. I would rather support the American worker. Knives are tools I use every day and I take great pride in knowing were it came from.

Blade-Tech will have many more models soon...The knife division is getting much bigger this year. Still, you can never go wrong with a well crafted Spyderco. :D

I'm a 4 if i see a knife that is comparable to a spyderco odds are good that i would by the spyderco knife because i know and trust them. On the other hand if i see a knife that i like more than a spyderco i would not hesitate to by it.

I'd guess that I'm a 1. I have several spyderco knives and like everyone of them. I buy knives based on the design and quality of the knives not who's logo is etched on the blade. Spider, Butterfly it doesn't matter as long as it's quality and nice looking.

Exactly! And I think this says alot for Spyderco. That they have a place in my decision to buy one (or more) of their knives is a good thing. I buy for quality. There are knife makers that I won't buy.

As someone said, Sal has knives from other makers.

I finally flipped through and read most of these, and I'd have to say that I'm a 7~8 when it comes to buying spyderco knives, but a 8~10 when it comes to carrying them.

The only other production line that I like and still buy from other than spyderco is benchmade and hopefully another Emerson.

In the past year I've carried mostly benchmade, emerson, and of course spyderco. My most recent purchases of spyderco have been the Endura 4s and a Military. The Military is holding strong as my EDC for the past 20 days (keeping track in my signature :D). If it passes 30 days then it will be the longest carried "clipped" knife that I've ever owned (I think ).

I'd say I'm about a 5. Spyderco was my first true EDC knife a decade ago. Never had anything else clipped to my right front pocket. Last February tried replacing a current carry Endura 3 with a Kershaw Lahar in the usual place I carry it. Fumbled the opening every time, thats how ingrained opening a Spyderco is to my right hand.

I carry the SPydie for utility because of it's SE blade and the Kershaw for SD but truth be told I think when the time comes that I'd ever be drawing a knife for an instant SD response it will be the Endura.

I'm having an affair with the Kershaw but I'm married to my Endura thats why I'm a 5.
