How did you find BladeForums.com?

Spark,

I originally spent time on KnifeForums, and grew a little weary of some of the silliness that seemed to (and still seems to) invade the discussions. I was made aware of BladeForums through a topic discussion on KFC, and have since come to know and love this forum.

I really appreciate the more "laid back" approach here, and the more "adult" nature of our discussions... less flames, less whining, more actual discussion!

Keep up the good work!

I was recommended to this site by someone on the TKCL. I have also check out the Knifeforums and prefer this one.

Came here because Sal told me to.......

I have learned so much from the forumites!

I lurked only a little bit on ColdSteel's old forum, and learned about KF from there. I lurked there until BF opened up and just started spending more time here. The atmosphere here seems more inviting to participation. Not so much like, 'If you don't know anything about knives, don't speak'.
It's a place where anyone from the very experienced to the very new can learn more than they could from almost any other source.

Thanks,
Ken

My knife fever syndrome was dormant for a year till I was stricken again last november.

Did a search on the web, found the BM forum, and I think a link from maybe A T Barr got me to KFC and somehow I got here. Can't remember exactly.

It didn't take long to develop a preference for this site/forum, for many of the same reasons others have listed above.

The attitudes and concern with which you and Mike run this place make it superior to KFC. It's comfortable, friendly, it WORKS. I come here first, and more frequently.

I check in more than once every day.

Now that you've pushed to get going with members and posts and succeeded, growth will be the next problem. This will get big. As more knifers discover the forums, they too will gravitate here.

I can see that you're aware of this growth issue in your plans for a store to fund a server, etc.

I think your plans and programs are good ideas and demonstrate your concern, good intentions, and genuine desire to do it right.

I have no doubt that you will succeed.

Thanks and good luck.

Yeah I'm crazy, but what do you want me to do about it

I enjoy following both BladeForums as well as Knifeforums. I feel there is information on both sites that provides me with information I'm interested in. Both sides have moderators as well as members who are both knowlegible and have good information to share.

I kicked into a rotten stump and there you all were!

Actually, I came via the Benchmade forum, RDK, and KnifeForums. I've been here from the outset.

One of the things I like about this site particularly is the Spyderco Forum. KnifeForums has good stuff too, and good people (a lot of the same people), but I'm less interested in Microtech and Mad Dog.

Well, I've been here since the beginning, despite the junior member status. Maybe I've been just a bit too introverted.

I first got into knives at either RDK or the Benchmade forum, can't remember for sure, and then found KFC. I came here immediately after seeing the Grand Opening announcement in the Benchmade forum.

I found this place through ABC cutlery. I lucked out, I guess.

I was mainly reading knifeforums.com until spark got fired. He said in the ABC-D chatroom that he was going to start a new forum. Then a few days later I was reading in one of Earl Stewerts post over at KF.com and he said something about a place called www.bladeforums.com so I desided to check it out(Thanks Earl

!). And thats how I found this place.

I had started reading rec.knives newsgroup when I became interested in learning about "modern" knives last fall and I believe it was mentioned there.

Very nice forum, with loads of information, and I've been "stopping in" regularly since. Keep up the great work, and thanks.

How did I become aware of this site?
Well, one day I was minding my own buisness eagerly downloading some new topics in rec.knives and Shazam! my screen was filled with some of the most petty and juvenile flame wars that I'd ever seen. I quickly learned to mark ignore on all posts iniatiated or responded to by folks with names like Josh Burbank, Mike Turber, Spark, Earl Stewart etc. Mentally, I imediately lumped all those together since they seemed to all spawn more non-knife related BS than anything else. I kind of hoped that the whole phenomenon of knife talk groups on the World Wide Wait would just slowly go away.

Time passed.

This site emerged as an interesting springboard to other things. Also, I came to realize that when I first showed up on rec.knives I didn't make a very good impression, either. Perspective changes things. ;-)

Then one day I just happened to see your knife test. What interested me most were the pictures. An interactive forum with pictures. Cool. I once tried a very, very minor stint at helping with a knife ezine, but it was far more limited in scope and I doubt that we'd have ever achieved the technical successes of this site. An interactive ezine ........ Hmmm. maybe I'll stick around? ;-)

mps-- "junior member"? -- "aspiring Curmudgeon" would be a more fitting title ;-)

I ran a search for various knife-type things and came upon this site...I think via Yahoo or something like that. I'm very pleased I came here, too...

The representation of the knife community here is incredible--there are end users, knife company presidents, smiths, and wholesalers here. There are very few forums of _any_ kind that have this type of support and close contact.

There are also clueful admins and good self-policing. Many forums and discussion boards have become havens for flamewars and juvenile jokes (and, of course, porn adverts)...and Bladeforums hasn't had that.

Bladeforums is a good idea done well. I'm glad it's here.

I usually monopolize the boss`computer during lunch. It was on one of these daily surfing sessions that I typed in "edged weapons"and hit search and, hmmmm, bladeforums, sounds good.BINGO!EUREKA!KNIFE HEAVEN! I registered the next day and have checked in every day since.I`ve lurked on a couple of the other forums and on rec knives but this place feels like an old pair of jeans.Comfortable.The pool of knowledge here is incredable and I thouroughly enjoy each and every visit.

Never a dull moment!

I was doing my job to research new knives for our new survival vests (gotta love test programs), and looked at Benchmades site and clicked on forums to see where it would take me to. I thought it was cool because I thought BM's where s*#$ hot. Well I was shopping on the KnifeCenter.com site and saw
BladeForums.com link and really haven't been back much since. Ideas don't get shot down
very much here by the moderater or other
formites. People are laid back here.

With the exception of never having been to re.knives, my experience was very similar to Bill's, tho I didn't speak up more than once or twice till I got to KF.com. Came straight here at formation and only go to others once in a while now. This is the more intellectual forum of those extant, with no offense meant to several moderators on KF whom I have the utmost respect for.

I was looking for info on knives, and I came across the KnifeForum. I heard several comments about the "other forum" And thought I would look for it. My first few attempts failed then I got it right.
I was real pleased to see Les Robertson, on this forum...I bought a F-3 from him back at Christmas. He's a great guy. I hope I can afford to buy other knives threw him. And he only lives 2 miles from me.

I didn't find BladeForums.com.

You found me.

I have seen rec.knives the usegroup, RDK the Forum, KnifeForums.com, and here.

I am not over at KF because I was kicked out.

My experience was very similar to some other members': Benchmade's, Rec.knives, CS, KFC, and then here. However, to be truthful, I need to make clear that I keep on following Knifeforums.com, and I have no plans to change that.
That being said, it's a pleasure to see that you guys are doing better every day. Congratulations!

Why do I stay? I think Yekim said it best - "The people that are involved with this site, members & moderators, are the best...period."
