How did you get started?

Saw a video of an S6 Destruction Test on Youtube and immediately ordered a S5LE. Five days later I ordered a SAR8LE.

A long time ago, in a land far, far away.....wait, that's another story...:D

Many years ago, a friend had just sold some Gerber blades on EBAY, for way more then they cost in the day. He said I should list my Gerber Guardian II, which I did, and it sold for about $175. I was amazed....so I started looking for something to take it place, not planning on spending more then $50 or $60, because who in their right mind would spend more then that on a knife?;)

I figured I would get a good hard use knife, not like the Gerber Guardian II:barf:

In my search, I came across Swamp Rat Knives, but none were available to order. This led me to Bladeforums, where I found Busse, and spent ALOT more on my first, a Natural Outlaw - Ergo with satin finish and a butt grind from Nic Ramirez(thanks Nic!)

I still have it, and always will. The sad part is how many I have now, plus how many have come and gone!

Saw an ad in the old Fighting Knives magazine around 1991 or 1992 for the original Steel Heart in ATS-34, and ordered one.

My first was the Waki.. I've been impressed with the level of professionalism and willingness to help customers from day one! You guys (Busse Fam) are SOLID! Since the Waki I have bought HRLM, RMD, BossStreet, BWM, waiting on the RMDx.
Looking to get my hands on the MUK, TAZ, and TankBuster

I guess I first heard about Busse here at Blade Forums. My first Busse was a Basic 9 with leather sheath, complete with box & paperwork that I bought at a local gun show from a knife dealer. This was a while back, but still after the Basics were out of production. I took the B9 on a solo overnighter and used it to split lots of hardwood. I batoned the crap out of it and it just laughed. I've been hooked ever since...

After years of watching man vs wild I decided to get the knife he used.
looked online and found out it cost $700, then looked for a comparable knife.
So I did some research, looked at web articles and nutnfancy reviews and decided on a rat rc-4 wich started my knife addiction.
I went through prob 40 knives, buying and selling.
Then I saw nos try and destroy the bussekin knives and wanted one.
I ordered a scrapyard deregulator and swamprat RMD from the company stores and since then got a dogfather, basic 11, and three scrapper 5's two of which were limited editions, so emulating nos I jammed the tip of an infi s5 into concrete several times and fell in love with infi. (( "J" smiley removed ))

First gen Howling Rat off a different forum... '04 or '05? I think it was $80 including the BB kydex.

YOU TUBE,videos was the 1st time i seen 1 and wanted 1 straight away.the video was of the FFBM but my 1st Busse was a NMSFNO,Artic white blade with Tan Handles, couldnt afford a FFBM,but now i have a FFBM. Dont need anything else, well maybe a smaller Busse.

My first Busse was a Three Finger that I talked Skunk into selling. Then it was 5 or 6 Hell Razors, 50-60 Game Wardens... get the progression?

Had seen Busse Combat ads for years in knife magazines and decided to get one back in May, 2005. It was on an Ebay auction, and the knife was a Custom Shop ARK with awesome snakeskin micarta. Snagged it for $275!! I remember being very impressed with the beauty of the micarta and uniqueness of the design, not to mention the obvious bombproof built. Got the bug thereafter and haven't been able to eradicate it to this day. I still have that little knife, and will probably be in my collection for years to come.

Right here. 3 Tank busters during the TB ordering window.

Wish I learned about Busse when the NMSFNO was being made. Also wish I would not have missed the Crash Rat.

Sweet thread!

I was looking at a bag dump thread over on edcforums and someone had a Game Warden....

I was intrigued and discovered bladeforums while researching the GW.

I wound up buying a Game Warden over on candlepower forums in april of 2009 and a few weeks later bought a military overrun AD over here (thanks on_the_edge). Within the month I bought a muddy skinny ASH... After that I was hooked!!!!

Here is a pic of my first 3 Busses (from May 2009):

Here is a current collection pic a year and a half later (The GW and AD are long gone as I prefer mid/large Busses...):

I think I'm about leveling out now and can't foresee adding too many more (other than a cabs) without selling some - I feel pretty content...

But then again, Easton is coming up :D:D:D

Oh sorry guys i was thinking of something else. :D:D Yeah just lurking around here then got hooked up with Knifehunter/Trevor. The rest is just history. Got a grex HHfsh from Kh, a Fbmle from another member. Then it was all down hill from there. Shbm's, ShshII, Ashle,Nmfbm, and another HHfsh with a saber grind,Bj's a skelly, bwmle, nmsfno. I've even got a rat that snuck in from somewhere. Maybe a few more, its a disease i tell you.
Well i'm off to check out the X now.:D

I got into Bark River knives after deciding that I was sick of the Gerber/Cold Steel/Buck/etc world of disappointments. I came across the Bark River Bravo-1 hype when it was first starting, and eventually that led me here to Blade Forums. Which of course, led me to Busse.

The SAR-8 was my first Busse, purchased from Skunk. I own/have owned several since then. And I just purchased my grail this morning... snakeskin AK47. :D

Is it Satin?

Don't recall how I learned about them but I was looking for a large knife and narrowed it down to a Basic 9 or a Trailmaster. Ordered the 9 direct and still have it. Just looked in the box to see what year that was but there is no receipt in there. Next came a groove master and I still have it as well. Found out about the forum several years later and bought my first off the exchange from Jaxx (Yellow/black SAR GW, still have it too).
Lots more have come and gone since.

this site, this summer. looking for a mora sized knife for outdoor use. ive never carried large knives, so i got a boss street and a ratmandu. reprofiled both and not they are my go to do all knives. masters of nothing but good for everything. well, they are masters of indestructibility.
