How did you justify your last knife?

I justified picking up an IKBS powered DDR TG because it was $490. I called Darrel and he said he didn't make very many of those and I couldn't let it slip by. This summer is bringing all kinds of sweet customs. This hobby gets the majority of my money. Now I can justify paying $500 for quality worksmanship. That was proven with my most expensive purchase to date, a Burn stiletto. My wife knows about every knife I buy/sell/trade. I always bounce potential purchases by her for her opinion. My wife is a rarity though, she likes good knives too. I just received an Ontario small Hossom folder which now belongs to her. She says I should buy the larger one for myself. When I have her around, there's no need to justify :D

Whenever I see a knife I really want, if it is under $150, I will just buy it.

If it is over that amount, I make myself sleep overnight on it, and if I still want it, I'll buy it.

I have found that sleeping on it has helped me to curb the really needless purchases.

I don't have to justify anything. I got my last knives, because I had ordered them, and wanted them. It is really very simple for me.

Life is to short to worry about the small stuff.

I don't have my motorcycle anymore and I'm happy with my gun collection; knives are a lot less expensive then those two things.

If I want it and my family is provided for, then I get it.

I'm good enough, I'm smart enough...
and all that jazz.
I sell one to buy one.

I must also add that my collection is 20-22 knives. I'm going for quality, not quantity. Even if I have to make monthly payments to the knifemaker.

I only get ~2-3 per year, and I shop for deals quite a bit. I almost get either a new steel, new lock, or new handle material, so i have a bit of leverage on the "isn't that one just like the last one" argument. I also show MSRP vs internet pricing, since my wife is a couponer i can drag out the old
"jeez honey, I am saving 36% here-$47-it takes you 3 or 4 shopping trips to do that with coupons."

You all know the deal... Shetland Ponies 1/2 off-better get 2, just in case.:D

I steal my children's lunch money that my wife gives me to give them. She leaves for work before I do, so she does not know. I send them to school with a jar of peanut butter, loaf of generic white bread, and a plastic knife. I tell them not to say a word, or I will withhold the plastic knife. I net about $50 every 2 weeks or so. I can get either a really nice knife once a month, or two "so so" ones once a month. I struggle with that decision-the quantity or quality thing I mean. I do not have to justify anything. I enjoy collecting. Joy is justification alone.

I had 7.00 bucks worth of reward points at KSF and had to use them before they were expired and there was only one ghost green Bravo 1 SS so...........
