How did you justify your last knife?

1. I needed a higher dollar knife (at least $100), because I didn't have one yet.

2. I needed a higher quality steel (at least 154 cm) that locked up SOLIDLY.

3. It was my birthday, so I wasn't paying for it anyway. This was something I probably would not buy for myself, but I would be very excited if I owned. And birthday presents should be exciting, dammit!

(I ended up getting the Benchmade 14205 . . . I like it, but I think I will still be buying more knives).

When you have a sickness there is no justification there is only action. My action is to buy what I want when I want and if I don't have the money I'll offer whatever I can. When something speaks to you sometimes you just need to own it.

i needed a knife for when it rains out! or i go swimming! (pacific salt)

and

wanted to get one before they are no longer available (d2 p-mil)

1) I had not had a new knife since Dec of 08. (I was given a Small Sebenza as a graduation present)

2) I was getting to many odd looks for using the Sebenza at work.(I am a sales rep)

3) It was green and smaller then the benza! More "Sheeple" (Bought a Spyderco Leafstorm)

4) I deserved it.

Funny thing is, after 2 weeks of use I have stopped carrying it and went back to my Sebenza. :foot:

I don't even own a knife I use (excluding saks) that is under $180 (and that was the price a friend sold it to me for, though he paid that amount himself)

I have 3 folders, they are my good knives, I use and have.

$905 in them.

I wanted secondary EDC.
I think the next one will be something "because it's cool", propably something steap for christmas.

What a great source of info this thread has proven to provide. I especially like the 2-3 knives per year idea. I am 61 - that would be 122 to 183 knives. Boy, am I behind!!

Who needs car tags, auto and homeowner's insurance, or property tax? My grandbrats don't need no stinking Christmas! Oops... wifey is calling... 'Yes dear...'

Seriously, how many feel a real downer after finally getting that long sought after knife?? The quest - I often think that is the draw. Now I want a BM Mini Rukus - when just this past spring I wanted the bushcraft-sized real Rukus. Go figure. Knife gluttony tempered by the thrill of the quest.

I realized that my OSAP(student loan) payments will be as much as an expensive knife EVERY MONTH once I'm done university.
So I had to buy an expensive knife NOW while a sort of can.:)

It's weird. I know I don't need another one. It will not do anything wonderful. For some odd reason, I really like the art and craftsmanship. That in itself is the reason for my purchase. Not because I need it, but because I like it.

BM Dejavoo... for my B-day. Turned 32... if you are single at this age, you have to rely on YOURSELF for a decent birthday gift... although my roommates got me Modest Mouse and WEEN tickets... I don't usually have trouble talking myself into a new knife... although I don't really have any one else to hold it against me either!
