How did you justify your last knife?

This is a good topic.

My last knife was pretty justified actually. It was a Boker Subcom, which replaced my old Boker Subcom, which I used to carry and use everyday for small cutting chores, but which I unfortunately lost while packing a while ago.

The knife before that was a carbon fiber ZT 0300.
Justification: Hey, it's cheaper than a Strider!

I don't justify anything. It's my money and I'll spend it however my wife wants......

ok. I justify them by saving up the money for it and then buying them because I want them.

The last knife I bought was a Single blade victorinox. My justification: it cost me $0.74 at a garage sale :) (I talked them down from a dollar since that's all the change I had.)

The knife before that - Case Sodbuster - was a Father's Day gift for my dad. He needed a knife for his toolbox.

Knife: Randall #26 Pathfinder.

Justification:

1) I wanted a Randall to use, not collect.

2) Outstanding stag.

my last knife purchase was a waved endura.

I wanted another spyderco
I wanted to try a waved knife
I had $60 burning a hole in my pocket

I got a paycheck, so I got a knife. Simple as that.:D Now that I am responsible for myself only, read that as divorced, I don't have to justify to anyone but myself, and I am fairly easy to convince!!:D:D:D

Queen Cutlery Hunter in Green Maple.

Why? To replace a knife I gave away in another forum

I like green

I got bored and needed a knife-fix...

Spyderco Swick

limited run production
some were still avaliable
I didn't have the money in reality, but said what the heck
AND
I wanted it!

If there is a mass catastrophe and we are forced to live off the land, then I am going to need more than one good knife. Never know when you will lose one or break one or sharpen it until there is nothing left. And where will you buy one then? So buy as many as you think you may need in such an event. ..............my guess would be 40 or so.

While browsing I came across the Buck Vantage Pro. It felt so nice in my hand, and I digg the blade shape. Luckily, I had a $100 gift card from a vendor and justified the purchase that way. Now when I carry the knife, I tell myself the vendor bought it for me. :)

My Tenacious is a wonderful knife, dear, but I know you think it's too big and scary, so I had to buy a Persistence. Really, dear, it's cause I love you...

I justified it:

- I wanted folder knife that was made in USA

- I did not had Kershaw yet and Kershaw is popular choice in here.

- I wanted Kershaw

- Kershaw is about as common in Finland as is honest politician

I had to discover how great Queen D2 steel really is. That is justification right?

Today I finally broke down and got the Endura 4 with ZDP steel. Its was justified for the following reasons:

1)I needed an equal number of Benchmades and Spydercos
2)It would my the first "premium" steel blade, and I need to know how good ZDP-189 is
3)Compared to some of the BF members, my collection is a mere blip on the radar
4)I have some money in my pocket
5)It's going be the LAST knife purchase, because I already have more than could possibly be used in a lifetime and it's enough already!

Actually, I only have 4 of what I consider to be good EDC knives. The total value of these is about $220. Some here would have no problem spending twice that on one knife, so thanks for easing my conscience. ;)

I work an insane amount of hours per week.I need not justify anything I buy.

My wife gets anything she wants & so do I.....most of the time.

Damn, that's a beauty. I think I am going to have to get on the list for a Randall.

I justify buying a Spyderco Caly 3 by selling a Spyderco Endura SS, a Byrd Crossbill, and a Benchmade Mini TSEK.

Gransfors Bruks Neck Knife...... Only available if you visit the foundry/shop in Sweden, in person. No online, dealer or mail order sales.

I saw this advertised on another Forum by a knife and sheath maker whom also collects, it was new, unused, and as soon as I saw the dimensions posted, I bought it because I love it. Its extremely sharp, now in my mini PSK.

'AAA' battery for scale!
