How did you quit smoking?

One of the problems with e cigs, is that you'll use them way more than you smoked. It's just convenient. If you never smoked in your house, you'll be able to with them. And you'll be able to use them in places you wouldn't be able to smoke a cigarette in. You just end up using them way more than you'd smoke a cigarette since it's convenient.

..Still beats smoking.

Good deal man. That should work. Check out indigo vapor's "the duke" good cigarette kind of vape.

Still smoke free... in fact, I gave 3 cartons of menthols to my neighbor. My custom FTW Bil-Lit lighter is spoken for. Threw away the ashtrays. Dipping Copenhagen only during AA meetings.

Quit, quit, quit again...repeat. The number one predictor of quitting success is the number of attempts. There are of course also some medications your doctor can prescribe such as chantix. I never tried them but I have given them to patients with great success. Vamping is clearly better than smoking... But we don't really know the long term consequences of this either. It also may be even more addicting considering the higher nicotine concentrations achieved and perception of it being a harmless alternative.

You are obviously not well educated in less harmful alternatives. Cigarettes give you a higher amount of nicotine absorption in a quicker amount of time, as opposed to e-cigarettes. E-cigarettes are actually less addictive because they only contain nicotine, not the MOI's and other ingredients found in cigarettes. It's obvious you're just another doctor who is quick to throw pills at someone. As someone else has noted, chantix is proven to have some serious side effects, which includes suicidal thoughts, aggression, etc..Read the FDA warning.

One thing that will take some getting used to when using e-cigarettes is the lack of the immediate rush felt from smoking.

Exactly why I'm not gonna touch Chantix. As a combat veteran with a PTSD diagnosis, I don't want to chance more suicidal ideation than what I already have!

If you have already given it away, then it's too late, but I would suggest holding onto the lighter, personally.

I don't know if you are as compulsive about checking "load out" every time you step out the door, but for months, every time I would walk out the door I would have anxiety about not having my lighter when I checked. I eventually just started carrying one again for lighting candles, and opening bottles mostly. I just don't feel dressed without a lighter in my pocket, even though I don't have much use for one these days. Spent most of my life carrying a lighter, and I tend to assume that I can make fire whenever I want.

Actually, it WAS spoken for... now it's on The Exchange, LOL.

I'm carrying a Bic for general fire needs. Zippo type lighters suck for burning 550 cord.

I just refused to pay for them.

Honestly, I still may bum in social(drunken) situations, but I haven't actually bought a pack of cigs in like 5 years.

Now I buy more knives! :D

For the first few weeks, "the patch" and a decent e-cig and (literally) pounds of weed.

Then after a while, no more patches...

Then after a while, no more e-cig...

I smoked for 32 years. I got sick and didn't smoke for three days...I thought well why not try to quit. I found this website and watching the videos for each day of my quit during the first two weeks made all the difference http://whyquit.com/joel/dayzero.htm ...I haven't smoked in 8 years. I rarely think about it now.

Tried quitting cold turkey, gained 15 pounds in a month.

Saw a flyer for "Quit Smoking with Hypnosis" in town. It was $40 for the session. At the time, cigs had just hit $4 a pack, so I figured if the hypnosis lasted 10 days, I was at least even.

Haven't smoked since... that was 1999. I was worried about "triggers", you know... answer the phone, fire up.... finish dinner, light up.... that kind of stuff. Never encountered one, and never wanted another cigarette.

Mind you, I WANTED to quit. My wife was pregnant and I didn't want to ever smoke again. There were folks there at the hypnotist that clearly didn't want to quit. They were chain smoking outside the front door right up until the guy called us in. Those folks didn't see much success with the hypnosis.

If you are having trouble finding reasons to want to quit... then I can't help you. Reasons abound.

I used to smoke 2 1/2 packs a day. I eventually wanted to quit, more than I wanted to smoke, and quit cold turkey. It was miserable for 2 weeks, and I was a real SOB to be around. It got better, but was still a struggle for the next couple of months. Then I was free-have not had a cigarette since early 2007.

I am still an SOB to be around though...

Electronic cig all the way. I smoked for a decade and quit recently. The cheap gas station ones WILL NOT work very good. You need once with ajustability and such. I have the ipv mini with a kanger subtank tank. It starts off at like $50 & is well worth the money. It's more powerful than most e cigs so you'll have to go down on the nic content of your liquid...I use 12mg liquids and I smoked two packs a day

Hi Guys, I am a newbie in this forum. So here's the deal....... Earlier, I used to smoke tobacco cigarettes and I was having a hard time with facing health issues. My girlfriend asked me to quit smoking, I also tried but was not able to then one day at the office I saw my boss with an electronic cigarette and I really liked that and thought why not for a change to go with this therefore, I bought myself a kanger starter kit and to be honest I felt the change in myself.

Slowly and gradually as time moved one, I was over with the idea of tobacco smoking, now I am not addicted to smoking , also e-cigarettes are not harmful as compared to tobacco smoking. Who Knows may Ne, I'll quit that too. But I am glad that I took the initiative and it worked for me

Never been smoker myself, but I did take bad habit of smoking cigarillos and cigars at later age. However, I did not get that much hooked to as I mostly smoked when I was drinking, but nevertheless. I quit after few years simply because I thought it was bad for me. As simple as that.

You will quit when the Dr. tells you have Cancer.! I quit after they cut the Cancer out of the inside of my mouth about 8 years ago.* But right after the operation I was still puffing away with some of the other Cancer people and we had our own little group as about 15 out of 41 Cancer people were still smoking and everybody knew we were still puffing away.!
"STUPIDITY" is the word for it but once I got back home after being through my Radiation and Chemo for 6 weeks I just up and put the Cig's down and I have not had a Cig or any kind of Tobacco in the last 8 years .** But now for some reason I think the Cancer is back as my lower Jaw on right hand side because it has a burning feeling just like my Cheek did 8 years ago and I have just been waiting for it to stop for the last month but I guess I will "have to go and have it checked out" even though I really don't want to go through all of this stuff again if I do have it again.!
I don't like to preach to anybody about smoking but if you can quit and want to hard enough you ""will"" feel a lot better and those around you will be happy also ~~ so it is a "WIN~WIN" situation as far as smoking goes.!!**^^ Plus $$$$$$$$$.!
Enough said...!!!!!!!!!!!!!
