How do you dew?

Yeah like today I had to commute to work for about 40 minutes or so, so I brought my Hati along for the ride just so I could flip the thing open a few times. Makes for a MUCH better car ride ! Haha
I would appreciate you not playing with knives while you are supposed to be paying attention to the road.

And no, I don't use my knives as fidget toys. I might take them out to admire but I don't open and close them constantly for no reason.

I don't take into account any kind of fidget factor when choosing or buying a knife. That never really enters my head, but I will fidget with a knife in the store while looking at it.

A story which I have told before..... I was at Blade and at Bob Dozier's tables looking at his knives he had displayed and for sale. I liked them.... in fact I really liked them! Anyway, Bob makes a wonderful kydex sheath for his knives and I was slipping a knife in an out of the sheath over and over again. Bob got a little annoyed with my behavior, but I was so impressed! I did buy a knife from him that day. Pretty much buy a knife from him at every Blade Show and look forward to looking at his knives.

What are some of the knives you “admire” if you dont mind me asking? Sometimes if the Sebenza hasn’t seen my pocket for a awhile i find myself doing just this, but sadly as you and I both know a Sebenza serves a different kind of “joy” when opening/closing the blade in my eyes.

Let us all in on what you are talking about and why it is "sad"!

Sadly I’ve still never been to a “Blade Show” of any kind . Though I’m fairly new to the knife world only being 1 1/2 years in the making so one day soon enough!

Any and or all of them. You want me to list my knife collection? Pay attention to the various picture threads, they are all in them.

Kind of like playing cowboys and Indians when you're a kid. Chop chop....

I assume when fidget factor is used, it means playing with a knife but not really cutting anything, right?

True...in fact I bought my first knife when I realized that "Hey! I'm a grown up...I always wanted a knife as a kid, and I can get one!"

So, why one sits around pretending they have an auto, when they can actually get one escapes me.

Well fidget factor to me means: Immediate “deploy” for lack of a better term. But the Sebenza..you gotta ease into her and take your time so you can enjoy that silky smooth action haha.

Nah, just thought you’d be a gent and talk about a few of the knives you admire so I could see if I would find them “fidget worthy” or not

Look the OP is simply asking if other BF members take the “fidget factor” into consideration when purchasing or choosing a knife to carry.

Yes he is. And since, as I said, I don't feel the need to go out of my way to annoy people, it is not a factor.

Ah! So a OTF auto doesn't "EDC well", but the fact that you cannot make like your Sebenza is an auto saddens you.

To each his own! Whatever floats yer boat. Glad you like knives for whatever reason.

Try high polished fixed blades and use them as a shaving mirror.... ;) Or as a signalling device when you're lost...

I don't believe anyone who likes knives and says they don't fidget with a knife from time to time.

D/A OTFs happen to be extremely useful EDCs as long as you avoid the dagger blades.
Lol, I just cant get past the fact that an OTF knife of any variant makes me feel like I need to be wearing a black leather jacket, denim jeans and have my hair slicked back with bacon grease in order to carry the thing, but hey those are just my opinions! ;)

I enjoy a good fidget factor and I like flicking my knives. So I get where you're coming from. I tried the fidget spinners (some cheapo) which ended up in a drawer and I tried a fidget cube (same drawer) but I do like using the knives. It might be the fidget factor but combined with the whole "this is a really nice smooth action" appreciation. Don't really have a favorite, but I do seem to gravitate towards fall shut-y actions as well.

Yeah, I’ve never tried any of the other items that are suppose to itch the “adult child” in me but I must agree with you on the fact the better the quality the better the “itch”. I’ve got a little Kershaw Leek that gets carried once every couple of months or something, and it leaves me craving more man!

What’s the most memorable flipper you’ve had a chance to mess around with?

So what does flicking your knife open while driving make you feel like you need to be wearing, since you brought both things up?

Hmm, the first two that come to mind would be my PM2 with Copper Scales, the texture and heft make for a nice hand charm if you will and the Reate K-2 because the action is great, it doesn't have the strongest detent but flips reliably and the closing action is just incredible, the closest I can compare it to would be that last soft motion an elevator makes before coming to a stop.

Funny, I had the chance to handle a PM2 with flytanium scales on it and it was killer man! I was ready to buy a set that night, but when I really put my mind to it given my profession as an electrician and the fact that I work outside about 40% of the time in the Florida heat I worried it wouldn’t be to make a “purchase” on the copper scales given they are so slick :/ but these are just me thought and I speak from no experience whatsoever.

I will have to check this K-2 out. I do enjoy riding elevators.. :D
