How long have you carried that edc knife??

Two weeks ago I replaced my usual Case Sodbuster Jr. with this Bullnose Work Knife from GEC. I really like the handle shape and the 01 tool steel, so this thing might be my new long-term EDC.

I really like O1, but one word of warning in case you're not familiar with it: It'll rust if you look at it sideways. Get a good patina going on it and keep it well-oiled at all times.

Thanks Samael,

It's been on lime slicing duty all week and it's got a nice even patina started. I just realized that the backspring is 01 as well because it's starting to darken in places.

So far my para2 has been getting carried the longest probably 6-8 months? Its just now starting to look worn in a bit. My leatherman wingman is also going on 3 months, and will probably be the last multitool I buy since it is pretty much perfect.

I had a chive I carried for years until the lock wore out, now my sister has it. And a zdp-189 delica 4 that I carried the hell out of, which is also with my sister now.

Might take some pics when I get back from this run.

Going back in time,

I've carried balis since high school. When slowly colected more, those economy balis got rotated until I made two permanent EDC, one 4.5" korean, one 3.5" rostfrei. The nicer ones stayed at home.

This continued until I work, and back in 2002 or so, got a CRKT Point Guard (AUS 6). Balis were fun, but a regular folder was a better slicer.

Shortly after, went out if balis time, sold them all. Went into SAK (Spartan Lite & OHT Bundeswehr).

About two uears ago, found the Sanrenmu at local store, and started into locking folder again. The Spartan Lite is still in backpack today for the tools, while the locking folders were swtiched within weeks/months in attempt to find an ideal EDC. Found few online sources selling more models than what's available at local store, so bought more in batches of few to try them out.

After going through some models (sold/given away), settled with current EDC. What was let go: SRM723, 723 black blade, 7xx (forgot model#, it was black clip point blade, lockback), 7xx spear point frame lock, smaller sibling of 723.
Current EDC: Enlan EL01, 02, Navy k631 and SRM 763. Yes, I have problem choosing, and each is different in it's own profile, grind and overall build, so each fulfills a different role better.

Been carrying my millie for over a year now for about 95% of the time. the other 5% is when I get something new. I like the millie because it just fits so nice in my hand and I just love the way the blade cuts

My second slipjoint (Victorinox Huntsman) lasted me for 3 years when I was a teenager.

First locking folder (MOD CQD Mark 2) lasted me around 3 years before I managed to have some spare cash to buy new folders.

It used to be that I rotated medium (3.1-3.6 inches) and small folders (3 inches and less) once a month or two for EDC and work uses.

But I decided to use small folders for EDC since last July to reduce unwanted attention.
The medium folders stay at home for domestic chores.

I EDC several blades, a fixed blade a locker and a slipjoint, that's on my person, not includin' the Spyderco Titanium Mini Police on my neckchain, That's been there since I bought it new when they first came out.

My Bud Nealy FB Aikuchi has been carried essentially everyday since I bought it new at the first ECCKs show on the eastcoast, that was back in the late 80s early 90s.

I also edc for the last 15 years or so a Pat Crawford one piece Framelock I bought from Pat at another ECCKs show.

Here's a pic of those two.

Any slipjoints get rotated fairly frequently so on average anywhere between a couple of days to months.

I do EDC a little frame lock, a Maserin Spirit with an Stamascus blade and Ebony scales, I won it on a giveaway here at the forums that Totaly Judy a member here hosted, it has been with me practacally since I got it 5 years ago almost to the day today.

Gerber Freeman folder in S30V. It's been at least four or five years now.

GerberFreemanFolfer.jpg

Since it says "USA" on it I'm assuming that's pre-fiskars?

Really wish Gerber didn't sell out and become a China special company. If that would have never happened who knows how they would be. We might even group Gerber and Spyderco in the same sentence.

Nope. They still make an occasional knife here in the USA. That's one of them. It's every bit as good as the old Gerbers were, though.

Yep, I wish they'd kept the manufacturing here too.

Wow! Ok that's good to know. I have literally never seen one that was made in the USA, but I really haven't been looking either. I will probably try and hunt one down to try it out.

Be careful — most of the Freeman folders you'll come across are made in China and are junk. Anything in S30V is American.

I have carried my EKA 60 with Babinga Wood handles on and off for 12 years, I switch between it and my Wenger Delemont Camouflage multiblade, with lockblade 3" and my Victorinox lockblade 3 1/2".

Won't let me post a pic?

Been carrying my Spyderco Chokwe for around a month.
I haven't had it long but I love it and think it will continue to rule the pocket and get the hell used out of it.
I love the little guy. =]

I would say my victorinox tinker has the most pocket time and use. Probably around 1 year almost every day (give or take 1 day out of every month or so)
