How many knives do you carry at a time?

I'm curious to know how many pocket knives you guys are carrying everyday?

Always a minimum of 2, a Gerber shortcut (soon to be rotated with a SAK) & a pocket/sheath knife of some sort. If I am going to work on my property, I often carry more than 2 - adding a machete, hatchet, or chopper, depending on the job to be done.

If you rotate knives for everyday use, how do you decide?
Three criteria:
  1. What am I wearing (dress clothes often dictate a smaller gentleman's knife).
  2. Where am I going to do what? (dictates the capability of the tool).
  3. Whichever one meets the above criteria & strikes my fancy from my EDC box.
Which knives do you use as backup and which as primary pocket knives?
All of my EDCs are rotated. I don't have primary and backup knives. I do have a few safe queens that don't get used and a few heavy duty or fixed blade knives that only get used for certain jobs.
If you have a favorite pocket knife, would you ever not carry it if you had other pocket knives that hadn't seen as much use?
I kind of go in spurts, but they all see action. Right now my Buck 303, my 2 Spyderco Manix 2s, and my 2 mini-grips are seeing the most pocket time. That'll change depending on need and desire. But, for example, I have been doing a lot of work in my office that required unpacking and breaking down boxes, so I carried my $15 BuckLite II all day today.

3 and a multitool. Small fixed blade (hanging from my belt loop), modern locking folder (right front), traditional slipjoint (right front) and mini leatherman tool (left front) Lately to help me decide I take a bunch of pics of different knifes grouped together then I scroll through the pic until I see something I like or what fits the job for the day.

On a typical day not including what's in my BOB/Man bag 4-6 on my person sometimes up to another 10-25 in my bag...

I got a problem. :(

Anywhere from 1-3. I always have an least 1 kife on me. My usual EDC is 1 utility blade in my right front pocket and 1 self defense blade in my left front pocket and somtimes a small secondary blade down in my right front pocket.

Work: SAK Super Tinker in RFP with my keys , andLM Micra in LFP rattling around with change and wallet.
Around the house usually a Peanut in the "watch pocket", Folder( BM,Spyderco in RFP ) and a traditional, usually a sodbuster or med. stockman in a back pocket.

Usually 2. Always have one on my key ring and when I carry my second it is one of my Alan Davis folders! :D Kevin

I usually have 3-4.
at work:
Kershaw oso sweet, boker mosier, leatherman PST II, and a spyderco spydercard in my wallet.

Off work: ZT0350 (used to be a CRKT ringer razel), leatherman sidekick, and the same spydercard. I'm trying to learn to make some kydex sheaths for a handful of my small fixed blades so I'll include one of those in my EDC.

usually 3:
Alox Soldier for the punch/drivers/can opener, and for when people ask for a knife
Big knife for fun (BM 710-3, Gayle Bradley, ZT0560, s30v blur, griptilian, spec bump)
Small knife to actually cut stuff (BM 530, terzuola, zing, d2 leek, OD-1)

If I'm hiking or walking outside I'll bring my douk douk to whittle, that thing is a $20 lightsaber.

one knife 99% of the time. and it's my sprint run spyderco military with cpm m4 steel.

very rarely I will throw a second knife in my pocket, but I always just end up using the Millie anyways so it's worthless...

also rarely, my other neglected knives make me feel guilty and I carry them for a day or two until I realize how much more I enjoy caring the Millie.

Just one right now my Strider SMF. I however have a Strider PT coming tomorrow with a custom sheath this is going to see some considerable carry time. But still only counts as one

I have many knives that I love to carry.

I ALWAYS have a Victorinox Waiter in my left front pocket. Always.

I always have a one-hand opening clip-on knife in my right front pocket. That one I will rotate somewhat, and it is just as the mood strikes me.

I have been carrying a couple knives that a friend gave me lately, those are special to me.

I also like to pull out something special once in a while, my Tilt DLC, or AGR Acies.

Occasionally, I will carry one of the many nice traditionals that I have in place of my clip-knife, but not too often, and usually when there is a special reason, like a holiday or in remembrance of the person who owned that knife etc.

I have a leatherman PST and a Juice in my truck, but I don't usually carry those on my person.

3-4 usually (sometimes more, rarely fewer).

Two traditionals in various pockets for daily cutting tasks. One more tactical on a clip for defensive use. If I am also wearing a jacket, I will have an additional SAK and a tactical flashlight.

One, generally.

Sometimes at work I'll carry a full size multitool and a pocket knife, but that's the exception these days.

Camping, I usually bring a spare in my pack.

One, Two or Three, it depends on my schedule and clothing.

I almost always have a fixed blade belt knife.

It's often backed up by a folder, either a locking blade or a slip joint, or both.

Sometimes a small fixed blade in a pocket sheath is added to the mix.

Big Mike

Usually 2 or 3.
I always have a neck knife, either my Becker BK11, or BK14.
Also my Leatherman Wingman clipped to my right or left pocked depending if I'm carrying another folder with a clip.

Sometimes I also carry a folder, mainly my Rat1 clipped to my pocket, or a Opinel#8 in my back pocket with my wallet.

at least one edc in the pocket was an xm now its a strider sj-75 , and if im hiking or outside around the house i use my busse SH-E.
