I'm curious to know how many pocket knives you guys are carrying everyday?
Always a minimum of 2, a Gerber shortcut (soon to be rotated with a SAK) & a pocket/sheath knife of some sort. If I am going to work on my property, I often carry more than 2 - adding a machete, hatchet, or chopper, depending on the job to be done.
Three criteria:If you rotate knives for everyday use, how do you decide?
- What am I wearing (dress clothes often dictate a smaller gentleman's knife).
- Where am I going to do what? (dictates the capability of the tool).
- Whichever one meets the above criteria & strikes my fancy from my EDC box.
All of my EDCs are rotated. I don't have primary and backup knives. I do have a few safe queens that don't get used and a few heavy duty or fixed blade knives that only get used for certain jobs.Which knives do you use as backup and which as primary pocket knives?
I kind of go in spurts, but they all see action. Right now my Buck 303, my 2 Spyderco Manix 2s, and my 2 mini-grips are seeing the most pocket time. That'll change depending on need and desire. But, for example, I have been doing a lot of work in my office that required unpacking and breaking down boxes, so I carried my $15 BuckLite II all day today. If you have a favorite pocket knife, would you ever not carry it if you had other pocket knives that hadn't seen as much use?
