How many knives do you carry daily? And why?

For work/office (IT), usually have 3 now. A SAK Tinker I picked up this weekend for the small stuff and when I don't want to raise an eyebrow. A locking folder for the bigger stuff like cutting up boxes for trash and cutting zip ties. It's usually a Mini RSK1 unless I forget to sharpen it or I'm wearing dress pants (I'll bring a BM707 on those days). And a Leatherman Wave for the tools.

If I head out on the evening or on weekend? Usually will be the SAK and a folder or just the SAK.

I made that mistake only once and spent the next 10 minutes trying to assure people I was just opening a box and wasn't going to hurt anyone.
buckg, I know what you mean. That happened to me at work once, when I pulled out a slipjoint. It was a little one, too, a Queen canoe. Maybe I'm diseased or weird, 'cause I think I'm pretty liberal... but I have more common sense when it comes to tools and their use than the conservatives I work for. Oh, well.

I'm good for at least three.
left front- Reeve lh lg ser. sebenza or BM 710HSR
right front -BM 800S or BM 806S
and one what I call a post office knife just something small that doesn't get the, LOOK when used in public and also doubles as the, yes I have a knife you can use.
Why 3 or more Hmmmm, why not I guess.

For work (mainly office), have two knife. A Spyder Mini Manix for cutting up various stuff and a LM Wave for the tools (mainly the scewdrivers and the plier) plus an Inova X1 lamp.

On weekends, in the city I carry the Mini Manix or a Fallkniven WM1 plus the LM Wave. In the field, I take usually the Fallkniven WM1 or EKA H8 plus the Fallkniven F1 or Becker CUK.

I also only carry one on me on a normal day.

Better to have and not need, then to need and not have.

When I go back to work, I will only have one on me, as Boston has a 2.5 blade length limit; and it will be my Atwood Solar Arc, in the custom neck sheath that Peter made for me. This knife has no clip, so I called Peter to see if he could make me a neck sheath out of Kydex (being that I will be working in the OR again, kydex is more impervious to blood and guts than leather. Hopefully my Solar Arc will arrive either today or tomorrow.), and he did. I will feel naked with only one knife!! But, at least I will HAVE a knife!! I am still contemplating taking my Caly, Jr. Hmmmmm......

Anywhere from 3 to 5. Usually one fixed blade in a sheath with my multi tool, a neck knife and at least two folders of different blade lengths and types. I firmly believe in the right tool for the right job and my cutting requirements vary greatly on a day-to-day basis.

The "always" have with me are a Victorinox Rambler on my keychain, a Tinker (or Super Tinker) in the same pocket as my keys but loose. The option carry in my other pocket is either a stockman slipjoint or a heavier type folder like my Buck Mini-Strider. Just kind of depends on what I think I'll be doing that day or what mood I'm in.

This Vics come in very handy several times a week for their utility. Also, with carrying more than one knife I have a knife I can use for disgusting/toxic stuff and a knife I can use for food type stuff if necessary.

For me, it's all about flexibility, having what I need, and just plain fun too.

Today I am carrying 3 knives. A bloodwood Mnandi, a small szbenza with black wood inlays, and a Benchmade Mel Pardue 530 black serated blade. Real sweet light knife.
I try not to leave home without my Szbenza, it's my good luck charm.
I was carrying a Microtech utx70 until I misplaced, lost it.:( Been going nuts trying to find it.
Konrado

when im working i usually carry two, an emerson cqc8 pe and a becker necker . the necker is the one that gets trashed the most and does very well for a hard work knife .when im just out and about i usually just carry the 8 cause i like it but the lil necker is never too far away when i need to pry or do wrk that a folder would be questionable.

I mix up what I carry every day. One day I might have nothing but a SAK on me, and the next I might have a neck knife, a fixed blade on my belt, a multitool on the otherside, a slipjoint at the bottom of my pocket, and a larger tactical clipped to it.

In general, I have 2 or 3 on me. Why? Why not. It is so easy, and just plain fun for a knife knut.

I try not to carry knives that cover the same bases, but if I am going to clip a big knife to my pocket or have a belt sheath on, then how hard is it to put a SAK or slipjoint at the bottom of my pocket as well?

One can *usually* get the job done, but it is nice and sometimes *needed* to have choices.

I carry two, BM 556 ( for small cutting jobs from cardboard to lunch):) and a Leatherman Charge Ti. (for plier, file and tool duty as well as heavier cutting).

Only one. I keep one in my car and the rest at home. I have a box cutter I carry to work and no where else, but it's supplied by my employer and needed daily for my job. Unpacking boxes all day...cutting tape, cardboard etc.

The knife I carry is either a CRKT M18-02 or now I have a shiny new Delica 4 to play with. The last thing I used my EDC for was to cut up some overcooked turkey and eat it.

I plan on getting a SAK type knife sometime soon. Be useful for camping / hiking and to have in the car while Skateboarding. Doubt I'll constantly have it in my pockets though.

2-3 Depending and if you don't count my truck.

Left Hip Pocket- BM D2 Grippie

Right Pocket- Buck 55

Belt- Leatherman Wave (but it does more hardware work than cutting)

In my truck I have a few strewn about and in my pack I've a BK-11 on the shoulder strap. I've just recently, as of yesterday, started carrying my Leatherman again; everytime I take it off I end up needing it, so the weight is worth it in the end. I've considered the new black Charge Ti's but I don't know if I want to as I got my Wave for Christmas.

Just one, a Camillus CUDA MAXX 5.5. Not exactly sheeple freindly, but I sure like having it on me. Just don't seem to have room for a second.

I usually just carry my Kershaw Storm. I also have a Gerber solstice keychain tool, but it doesn't have a knife blade on it.

- primary EDC is a Delica, and it gets whipped out frequently. I put more emphasis on quick and easy deployment than anything, and the Delica does that for me. Sometimes its replaced with an Endura or mini Grip. I always come back the the Delica tho.

- have a Spydie Ladybug on the keyring. You could field dress Oprah with that thing if you had to.

- usually also carry a Micra, and its got a sharp but tiny blade too.

cheers
