If you come up with a quick fill in program I’m in, just shoot me a invoice, it would be worth it.I'm building a database of all my knives. I've been at it for awhile, but it's a pretty tedious task. So far I've got 66 in there. I'm suspecting it'll end up somewhere north of 200.
I started a spread sheet a couple years ago just in the event that my heirs need to have some idea of what I have , approx. value , and who or where it may go . It is not up to date nor do I expect it to be perfect . Different people design and make spread sheets different .After a few polling hours and 61 votes, are you surprised that zero folks reported having fewer than 5 knives in their collection?
How about the fact that about 26% are in the 200 and over categories?!
Many keep an inventory spreadsheet / database. Care to share a screenshot of the details you track? Here's a snipet of the top of my list:

The bottom photo is the continuation from the top one . There is a 4th column to the right of the third one . I guess I have about half of them put into it so far .
Harry
I've been working at cataloging mine. I'm using the MyCollections app. Seems to work for me.
Here's a typical entry. No I'm not trying to sell the knife!

I spend most of what i earn on clothes, shoes, bags and perfumes for my wife. What remains to me is wasted.
I spend all my money on "wine woman and gambling" the rest I just wasteI spend most of what i earn on clothes, shoes, bags and perfumes for my wife. What remains to me is wasted.
That's why i only own about 25 knives. I don't have bought any knives since 3 years. I'm only interested by american traditional knives and they are now difficult to get on this side of the ocean . I've given up.
I don't complain, i use all my knives, they all are well fitted to the tasks i have to perform, they all are beautiful.
Dan.
Not to recommend something that would cause you to redo anything.......I was afraid, before I looked at the poll options, that I was going to have to go count knives — something I usually avoid doing. But I appreciate the large gap between the last two choices, as it made my answer easy.
Ain’t that the truth.I have a spreadsheet that I try to maintain, but it’s always in need of updating. And even if it was up-to-date, it wouldn’t be very helpful for coming up with a count for this thread, as I only really use it for certain knives. I’m not going to be cataloguing all the Opinels that I own, for example.
Looks like a thorough database, Harry. A bit similar in layout to mine (it’s late now, but I’ll share a screenshot tomorrow).
I’ve tried a few apps/programs like that in the past, but never found one that I liked well enough to switch to, so I just use Excel. (Maybe I should qualify that by saying I never found a free one that I like well enough.I wouldn’t even mind paying for something if it was a one-time cost, but like so many other things now, it seems like a lot of them want you to pay them monthly or annually for the privilege of using their software.)
