I don't currently have an accurate count, but I know the total is more than 300 and less than 350.
Given that in January 2014 I had 5 (6 if I count an original Leatherman), I'm amazed by the current number, whatever it is.

…….yep, I get it, GT - possibly likely me - they jump outta the internet, and suddenly, they’re on your doormat. Just like that…

I'm building a database of all my knives. I've been at it for awhile, but it's a pretty tedious task. So far I've got 66 in there. I'm suspecting it'll end up somewhere north of 200.
I’ve been using Excel to track mine, but it’s tedious and not a lot of fun. I use Excel too much at work to want to use it at home. I’ve always wished that there was something like Discogs for knives. Discogs catalogs your albums or CDs.

I use it for my albums (over a 1,000).

After a few polling hours and 61 votes, are you surprised that zero folks reported having fewer than 5 knives in their collection?

How about the fact that about 26% are in the 200 and over categories?!

Many keep an inventory spreadsheet / database. Care to share a screenshot of the details you track? Here's a snipet of the top of my list:

I‘m also interested in something that is not Excel.
I've been working at cataloging mine. I'm using the MyCollections app. Seems to work for me.
Here's a typical entry. No I'm not trying to sell the knife!

This looks really nice! Am going to look into it. I don’t necessarily want to re-enter everything, but not too bad for around a 120 knives.

surely there must be the equivalent of those what is this bird app for knives that could be adapted for keeping track of a collection

Exactly. That’s why I mentioned Discogs for albums. It is user-fueled, but pretty amazing. And keeps me from buying the same album twice if I remember to check it first!

I honestly don’t know. At first I thought maybe a little over 100. Then I found a notebook where I was listing my carry pocket knives and it only had 26 knives listed. I probably have another 6 or 8 that don’t get carried.

If we count fixed blades also maybe another 25. I’m going to have to count out of curiosity eventually.

Ok I just counted. 90 at home if I count the two fillet knives(Queen, Helle) that are in my tackle box. Over half of them are fixed blades.

I do have another 3 or so cheaper ones at the church in desk drawer that I leave there just because.

I’m sure if I looked around there might be one or two I forgot about.😁

I know what you mean. 🤓
I'm actually quite intentional about it though. About 3 times a year, I order about 10 usually inexpensive knives. So 30 knives per year over 9 years gets me an additional 270 knives - guess I shouldn't be very surprised at my current count.
