I have a little over one hundred including tomahawks, machetes, sword cane, etc. Most are in the $50-$100 price range. I am semi-retired so I have time to clean them every couple months. It usually takes me a few days to work my way through them at a leisurely pace. When I have them all laid out on and around my card table it helps to remind me that my collection is big enough, and to slow WAY down. I like to give knives to special people, or as barter for a service or favor.

I have a box that holds 12 knives. I enjoy the challenge of trying to not have anything else besides those 12. Makes for interesting decisions.

I need to try this. Gotta trim down...my newly found Trad addiction hasn't helped.

I started collecting about 18 mths ago and so far its 34 and growing for me, although i wish it would grow faster. 30 of them are folders and SAKs. I dont have any higher priced knives, a couple of PM2s would be the top end of my collection so far.

I can name at least 30 knives off the top of my head but I'm also working on a couple of collections. I want a complete set of Grohmann knives (LOVE the design) and I have 4 or so of those so far. I also like the history of knives (history major) and I'm just starting a collection of knives that are associated with certain countries. A national knife I guess (for example grohmann #1 for Canada, Kukri from the Nepalese, Opinel for france. Still haven't decided which is more iconic for the USA, Bowie or KA-BAR...might go with both).

Plus my usual EDC's and hunting knives.

That's a neat approach and definitely will be a fun journey getting all of them.:thumbup::thumbup::)

I'm at about 65, but slowly trying to downsize and replace quantity with quality.

I wasn't sure if KnifeHunter was going to show up to this thread. He doesn't spend much time outside of the Busse forum. But we would be remiss in not including a picture from his dining room table. If this doesn't shoot holes in the notion that you can't have both quality and quantity, nothing will:

Well good. There's plenty of us with over 50. I don't feel like a serial killer.

Funny. That's something that comes up when dating. First time I had my wife(soon to be ex) over for dinner I displayed all my Kukris and Big fixed blades on my counters. She thought it was funny.

Collecting knives is hard to bring up in dating. I just know when I say I collect knives they are going to picture the knives from "Cutlery Corner" on cable. That and I'm some sort of ax murderer.

I just say I'm an artist... that my media is leather and steel.

I own four knives, Spyderco Native, Benchmade Griptillian, Kershaw Leek, and a case pocket knife. I also just gave my son my Kershaw Blur and my old Ka-Bar from the Marines.

The Spyderco I've had for a decade and carried it basically everyday and to me it's still the perfect EDC knife. The case looks pretty and is never used. The Leek I find horrible in basically every way and will probably give that one to my son too. The Benchmade Griptillian is very nice, I love the Axis mechanism, it's too big for EDC so my next knife will be a mini-griptilian.

While I only own four I can see me owning 10+ real quick.

Hmm, lets see.
2 fixed blades: an Izula and a Buck 105.
2 Spydercos: Sage 1 & Sage 3
1 ZT: 0566
1 Benchmade: 940
1 Al Mar: Eagle Falcon HD
2 GEC: 1 # 63 Mako and 1 Madison Two Blade Barlow
And a couple of SAKS whose whereabouts among various bags, drawers & tackle boxes are at the moment, unknown.
For a grand total of 9, not counting the errant SAKs.

we should make it a contest to see who owns the most knives on all of bladeforums ;) 1k +? CRAZY! lol

I'm in the 0-3 crowd. I'm a full time high school student so I don't really have the money to throw around. A man can dream about some full damascus Stan Wilsons though right?;)
