How many multiples do you own of the same knife?

Exact same knife, two of each.

Pre-need replacement and or investment.

Manix2 XL CF S90V
Military CF Ti framelock S90V
SpyderHawk Orange FRN H1
Siren CF S90V

I tend to buy a few examples of the knife I have an interest in. Different steels, different configurations. Then I live with them for a while and see which one finds its way into mu pocket most often. Once there is a clear winner, I sell off the other examples.

Right now the only doubles I have are a couple of Pena X Apaches, one in M4 and the other in M390.
I'm not sure I will be selling either of those, honestly.

I have multiple Sebenzas and Inkosis in different configurations. Different blade shapes and inlays. I have 2 of the ZT 0562s, one being a sprint run with an orange scale and everything else in black. I have 4 pm2s in various configurations as well. I just like what I like.

I thought that some duplication in a collection was so common as not to be noteworthy. That said, I have dupes in Mora, Opinel, Rough Ri(y)der, Benchmade, Becker, Marttiini, Kershaw, Peltonen, Cold Steel, Okapi, Leatherman, and one GEC Forum knife. I have bought dupes of some Anza pattern as gifts.

I have a bunch of Enduras. Pretty much all variations with two of the really good ones like K390, Superblue, Hap 40, and VG 10. These things never wear out though so my son will be inheriting more than he will know what to do with.

I have apologized to him already for the mess he will have after I'm gone. He doesn't have time to sell 500 knives nor the expertise to know what is worth what. I told him to buy a membership here and sell them a few at a time. He works about 70 to 80 hours a week so hopefully his wife will learn fast and help him.

If you made up an updatable catalogue of your collection, with accompanying photos, it would make it easier for him to deal with.

I agree. Much of my knife collection is stored and is difficult to get to boxes put away . Those are stored in layers with an excavation needed to get them. I don't have the time to do what is needed. I have been collecting knives since I was a kid and I'm in my 60's now.

5 Sebenza's and 3 inkosi.... all different variations but same knife.

I don't collect so any duplicates would purely be for function and invariably on the cheaper end for work etc... So Mora, Hultafors, Victorinox and Opinel.
