How many of you EDC an expensive ($300-$400 and up) Knife

If the loss would really be a significant financial blow, in that I would have to scrimp and save for months to replace it, I won't buy it in the first place, much less carry it daily. I would be pretty bummed if I lost a knife in my current rotation, even more so if it was one of the discontinued models, but I'd shed a tear, say lots of curse words and buy either a direct replacement or something comparable. That's the main limiting factor on what I'll spend on a knife.

Edit: To actually answer the question, $300-400 is just above my current comfort level right now, if the business I own a piece of starts to take off that could change very shortly.

Yep, only have 1 folder that is under the 300 to 400 range, spyderco matriarch 2. Useless as a edc tool.
Usually it's wood sebenzas or lcf spyderco southard.
Knives are replaceable.

My EDC choice is invariably in the '$200 or less' bracket. I do own more expensive, perfectly usable knives--like a small cf Sebenza--but those were bought mainly for aesthetic, collection, and potential investment reasons. I prefer to maintain their condition since I have many other less expensive knives that can fulfill the same roles.

I carry a few different Microtech knives, an sng and have an Shirogorov in the way. I plan on carrying it as well.. but have to admit I will be a bit nervous for a while?

I have included several high $ knives in my rotation for years, but it took me awhile to work up to beating on a custom the same way I would somthing like a delica. The longer you are in this hobby the more expensive your taste seems to get:) However, with the being said I still carry and use sub $50 knives also. For example, right now I have a case butterbean in my pocket, but yesterday I carried an annual sebenza.

I agree with the why spend a bunch of money on a knife if it isn't going to get used. I carry plain jane CRKs Hinderers Strider and Curtiss stuff every day. If I had Bodegas Southards, Les George stuff I would carry them too.

I carry all of mine but I don't have a lifestyle requiring the frequent use of a knife. If I did, I'd probably take a less expensive fixed blade for every day carry and leave the expensive folders and autos at home.

nobody ever finds it silly to carry a $400 smart phone. so why not a knife?

I broke the $200 barrier about a year ago and I still can't bring myself to go over $300. Soon perhaps but at this point I can barely convince my wife a $200 blade is a good investment lol.

I do. WHy you may ask? Because when it's all said and done, I can't take it with me.

I carry a $500+ knife every day, no regrets. Some guys on here are every day carrying customs, and $700+
production stuff so I don't feel too extravagant.

Post pics people!

I carry a ZT 301 everyday and use it constantly at work. Granted I don't baton with it or jab it into metal, but I use it as I would any other knife and if it turns up that I need to do something rather destructive or super dirty I go get the proper tool. The loss of the knife would rather hurt but I tend to keep track or my things.

Been carrying my new Damascus Sebenza everyday since I got it. Already scratched up the pocket clip= character.

If I like it, I carry it. Simple as that. One day I'll carry my small Seb, then next I'll have my Kershaw Leek.

I do draw the line at about $500. Any more than that and I'd be constantly worrying about losing it Even so, if I ever walk though a very crowded area I'll reflexively place my hand over my knife to make sure no sticky fingers try to help themselves.

Small sebenza and 2 three inch XM-18s. Along with a Manix and mini grip. I think they look and feel even better with some personality.

Best,

Exactly. I don't have a $300+ dollar knife. But, if I did I would carry it. I carry a phone every day that is worth more than that and a gun regularly that is worth more. Also, if I drop an expensive knife or get it wet it will probably survive just fine. Phones are much more fragile.

I have a buddy who won't carry his $100 benchmade because it is worth to much. But he uses a $900 H&K pistol. Makes no sense to me....
