How many of you EDC an expensive ($300-$400 and up) Knife

The only knives I own in the +$300 catagory are fixed blades and I seldom will carry a fixed bladed knife other than in the woods. So, the answer is NO.

I'll EDC high end knives and use them but I'm much more hesitant about using Damascus...

example: the other day I was at pot luck dinner with friends and was carrying the 710-142 but decided to pick up the chunk of chicken parm with my fork as opposed to cutting it. Not that I couldn't have used the knife, but I really didn't want to rush to clean it so it stopped me from using it as I would have a standard blade.

Sebenza or another high cost knife pretty much all of the time. If I'm going to the beach I'd swap out with my benchmade grip. I have lost one very expensive folder, so it does happen. Sucks, still pissed about it, but I enjoy carrying nice knives enough to take the risk.

I have bought and sold some Sebenzas a number of times> I just couldn't see carrying it on a regular basis. I was mostly afraid of losing it. Recently I bought a large sebbie and this time I will be including it in my EDC rotation. I figure since I enjoy a good knife why not use it. Up until now my edc knife has been a Spydie delica and a bench made mini grip among some others. I haven't lost those in over ten years so why not move up the knife ladder.
also I have a Hinderer coming and if I like it for edc I will include it in my rotation of daily carries.
Anyone else decide to take the leap and carry their better knives?

I used to EDC the Chinese crap when I was a working LEO.

I did abuse a few and that was a good call for me ---- then.

Now I am retired and trying to use up ALL that I used to think of "saving" as I don't have any to pass it to and I ENJOY using what I bought.

I do not think or worry about the cost of my knife or gun's that I EDC.

I am worth it ,and I paid for um too.

BM's,Darryl Ralphs,Umnumzaam,custom slipjoints.

My god.... it's beautiful.

Thanks! I think so too! :)

I carry my $350 Small Sebenza every day and use it for everything.
I used it to open a can for someone at work the other day when the pull tab snapped off.
The way I see it, don't spend all that money just to leave it at home. Carry it and use it.

I carry every knife I have. Combat Troodon being one of my priciest and I plan carrying Halo V when I manage to buy one.

It's like the old saying, "Never count another man's money."

I guess the same can be applied to why some people spend $40 on a knife, and why others spend $400 on a knife. You just don't question it.

I don't personally care, I just wish the high spenders would spend the same on nice camera equipment and post more pictures :D

Hahaha guilty of that.
I'm taking pictures of a $2000 pocket dump, with a 5 year old cracked phone!

Awwww that was a great post.

Here's a $15k pocket dump, not counting the cash.

Since I first posted this thread I am jumping into the high end of EDC in a big way for me.
Just got this Hinderer from another forum member. Please excuse the poor cell phone pics.
I think I'M in trouble with these Hinderers now.

Good for you. :)

Just carry whatever you feel like that day...that's what I do.

Sometimes it's really expensive, sometimes it's not.

I just grab whatever looks good for the day, be it an inexpensive rainbow Leek or a Chris Reeve Damascus.

I'm more in this category. Sometimes i grab my Dragonfly and sometimes my X18 or a Brous. There are only 2 knives in my collection that I would only carry for a special occasion.

I rotate through my collection daily, but I have no problem carrying and using any of my custom Emersons when it's their turn in the rotation. Both of which cost over $1K each.
