How Minty Can It Be??

Mintier than a rainbow reflected in a dewdrop on an angels flight feather.
That's how minty.:)

Now this is a fun thread - lot's of nice old knives to ogle. I have a few never used knives; a Schrade made Buck 301 Stockman circa 1968, a Case 6214 Jack knife from 1970, and a 1965-69 Case Barlow. OH

This Schrade Walden whittler was in its original cellophane wrapper and box when I got it. I believe that I am the first person to unwrap the knife and open the blades since it left the Schrade factory circa 1950's.

Always nice to see these old knives in great condition. Enjoying all the posts !:thumbup::)

Thanks for digging out your minty knives my friends!! Nice to see some preservation going on. It's a small step, but we learn from our history!!

There are millions of knives to sharpen up and stick in your pocket - maybe even billions!! But only a few that can tell us about pride of design and craftmanship in days gone by. By paying attention we make things better. By ignoring history we end up with . . . .well, ignorance!

I hope you will excuse my pedantic moment there!! You can tell I can appreciate a safe queen. Please show us more!!

Great thread! I really like the Camillus and Challenge, all of the minty Case jigged bone and the sawcut bone on the barlows. Opening up an old knife straight out of the box and paper must be a pretty good feeling!

Here's a Napanoch:

Mike, those NYK knives are beautiful! And man, that Remington :)

This thread just keeps getting better... destined to be a must-read/must-look reference.

Mike, that Remington still turns my crank! Probably always will - and that NYK!!! Your collection grows more sophisticated as time marches on!

Thanks, Primble, I love how you can see the smooth edge bevel against the ground blades, just beautiful!

Thanks guys. This thread has been a treat. Charlie, one of my most enduring lessons on vintage pocketknives was at Blade years ago when you spent some time going over different patterns and companies in the restaurant bar.

At some point I decided to quit buying so many old knives in favor of just getting a few that were in good shape. Haven't always been able to stick with it, but my collecting goal is to have one or two nice knives from various early companies.

I no longer have this Winchester EO. There was some debate on here as to whether the etch was legit or not:

I really, really liked this Ka-Bar, but it has moved on as well. A friend had the exact same knife in stag, in even better condition, so it made sense that he ended up with the bone version as well.

Early Winchester that I still have. Very full blade, but bad pic:

Beautiful mints, guys! Here is the oldest minty I have right now. Hammer Brand celluloid Cattleman pattern. Pretty sure the Schrade Cut underneath the Hammer was cleaned by someone.

I stumbled upon a little treasure trove of minty Schrade NY USA knife listings on eBay this week in the afternoon. They were all made in the mid 1970's, A muskrat, a trapper, and three medium stockman. All with the plastic tubes and factory grease. I missed out on the large stockman, but was happy to pick off these BUY IT NOW bargains one at a time.
