Although it's in New Zealand currency, so there is the exchange rate to consider...

Cold Steel knives, about $2000

Other knives, about $500 (I hope).

Maybe I need to take up another hobby. :(

Overall?

I'd say under $5,000.00.

Mostly kitchen knives though.

Funny thing, this is one of the cheaper hobbies I have... try looking at salt water reef equipment....

I have kept a few smaller tanks oops glass wallets that holds all my money ransom lol.

I bought my first knife last June. I have now spent over $3,500.:D

However, a very generous friend gave me a custom by maker D.F. Kressler, so I have $8,500 of knives.

I am 13, and I get my knife money by petsitting.

Boy, I guess knife collecting is expensive. They didn't tell me that I would become addicted when I bought my first Kershaw for $25.

But, I guess my other hobbies are expensive too. For instance, I spent about $1,000 in upgrades for a $350 RC car to make it go 83 MPH, and in mid and high power rocketry, you pay $20 to $40 per flight, not counting the $100+ rockets.

Only a rough estimate, but...at first I felt good reading through this thread..then I realized I've only been into this for a single year and I've blown a grand already. Ha. :o

Well, im kinda new to collecting, (I have 8 knives) and so far ive spent around 1000$.

But im sure that number will double (or triple) in the new year. :)

Forgive my incredulity, but who gives a 13 year old kid a $5000 custom knife.

I've got maybe $1700 in steel and another 1K in sharpening supplies.

I have probably spent enough to get my grail gun, a wilson combat tactical supergrade 1911. If I had bought the gun instead though I wouldnt have so many knives I love, and i'll still get that gun someday along with an smf, xm-24, sebenza, more para 2, military and manix 2 sprints and maybe even a gold class benchmade or two...the list will forever continue:D

Who makes that kind of money petsitting? maybe you're petsitting on park avenue or something.

I'm not sure it's polite to share his name, but a person my dad went to college with, a family friend and Eagle Scout, does. Here is a picture of it on my user name if you still don't belive me.
The paracord, hand, and "SpydercoBenchmadeKai" paper show that this was not Photoshopped.

Still don't belive me? If you want, I can provide you with a picture of it on top of or with any random household item. (Boy, what happended to trust?) Need a picture of my birth certificate to prove that I'm 13?

Here are some bettter pictures of it:

I charge about $15 per hour. (It varies depending on what's involved.) I will earn $47 dollars today, which is from 3 jobs. (one job=$30, another $10, another $7.) I will earn about $800 this holiday season--my biggest single job is giving me $300.

I've probably spent around $500. I have a few nice production folders. Paramilitary 2, Manix 2, Benchmade Presidio, Endura 4, Leatherman Charge ALX, Skeletool CX, Dragonfly, Tenacious, Orange Skyline, Blue Persistence, CRKT Ignitor, Benchmade 707. I've had a few more, but lost/sold/given away. I'm content with a small collection of decent knives. I'll slowly build up when I find nice deals.

No need to verify your claims. We saw your post when you made Eagle. Congrats and keep your knife safe.

BTW, about $3500 this year and about $5500 lifetime.

We join the forum to share the hobby. In the process we drop little bits and pieces about our lives, our beliefs, where we live, what we do.
Sometimes we read a post about something that has never actually happened to us so of course it couldn't possibly have really happened to someone else. Could it? I mean I never got an expensive knife as a kid so how could SpydercoBenchmadeKai? Right?
That makes perfect sense, doesn't it?

Enjoy your knife kid and Welcome to a vocation that can last a lifetime. The knives you collect now are the memories of you that your children's children will cherish. Grow up to be the kind of man they'll want to remember.
