How much snark could a snarksnark snark if a snarksnark could snark snark?

This. I still haven't striped my first (BK2). I like that worn look to it :D If it was a 15 on the other hand... I'd say strip away! the slice factor multiplies with the coating off.

That answers the question I should have asked. Stripping the coating off the 15 makes it perform better. Is there a noticeable performance boost in stripping the 9? Your and the others' answers suggest not so much.

I uh... don't have a 9 :foot: and have never beat the new off of one so I can't comment. I can tell you that it makes little to no difference on a BK2, and the coating is just as smooth as if you took sand paper too it after a night of splitting / processing wood :D

So we just got the wife's '14 Focus out of the shop... 2nd transmission rebuild in less than 60K miles. This time the bill was just north of $2000. Nice little car except for that rather alarming issue... sure glad I'm not paying for it. (it's under warranty and it's a company car anyway, but still - what a hassle - towing, rental while it's in the shop etc... that stuff adds up quick)

:thumbdn: That sucks. Any chance she can petition for a new(er) vehicle. Seeing as its costing them so much to keep it on the road ;)

Just wanted to say, if any of you guys are wondering what to get me for my birthday, or Christmas, or a belated Father's day gift.....I would suggest this:

Spatulas need more jimping.

Sorry to hear that, JT. My 2014 (maybe 2013) Ford Transit's (company vehicle) transmission shit the bed at around 20,000. Same engine/transmission as in the focus, AFAIK. The company I worked for before had them spilling their guts on some vehicles at 5 and 6 thousand miles. Known issue, at least with the older Transit Connects; I sure wasn't surprised when mine started slipping....on the last 50 miles of a 200 mile drive home. Luckily, I was able to get home.

JT can jimp it for you. :D

That sucks JT. Just today I helped my dad replace the hubs and such on the front end of the truck. They were under warranty, but the Ford garage people were too ignorant to actually fix the problem the first two times we took it to them so dad just ordered the parts and we replaced them ourselves, in an uneven gravel driveway, with a cheap jack and crappy Walfart tools in a good bit less time than they had it in their fully decked shop.

Something I've been wondering about, those of you who make knives, how do you typically come up with something to name the models? Just one of those odd questions that pops into my head...

In other news, I killed a big watersnake today that was eating the trout out of the creek at my uncle's house. Probably 3 feet long and a couple inches around at it's widest point. His house is a few hundred yards away from mine and I was riding by on my bike when I saw it. He wasn't home, so I was gonna just chuck rocks at it, but he pulled in in a few minutes and grabbed me a shotgun to shoot it with when I told him. :D

I'm pretty sure the only thing Santa has for me is a lump of coal :D

I know it's been said before, but looking at the exchange when you are low on funds is a bad thing lol

I don't go to the exchange anymore for exactly that reason.

I say market research  It's good to see what certain things are going for now-a-days so when its time to buy.... well.. you know :D

local guy wants to sell me an old but VERY NICE anvil for "probably too much money".

i am weak. might do it .

First he catches the sharks with his hands. Then he stuffs them in a hill side until they rot away, leaving only the teeth. Other tooth-hunters thought it was cheating until they learned about the bare-hand shark-catching.

well, you missed a step

he eats them whole, and poops the whole teeth out, then stuff that mess into the hillside. he stuffs SO HARD that they petrify as they go back in time, all the extra carbon just adding proof.

Yikes, what did you get? Were looking at the new BFG All-Terrain T/A KO2.

Close, I stuck with BFG KM2 mud terrains. That's what I've ran since I bought the Jeep.

Ouch. Discount Tire had a pretty good sale going on not too long ago. I only get tires from either them or Costco. The free tire rotation and repairs are great.

I went with Big O Tires, they had the best deals locally.

Jimping costs extra.

Yeh, it's pretty clearly a real lemon design. This time it went out on the freeway and she was barely able to limp into her client's parking lot. Sent me a msg... "think I should try to get back to the office or go ahead and call it in from here?" Well call it in FFS, unless you wanna get back on the highway, have it die again and wind up with a semi up your tailpipe! :D

Yup! She's due for a new car shortly after the new year anyway, so her boss went ahead and authorized the order today.
