I’d prefer not to have my email address published for others to see. I could definitely see others emailing me, trying to work up a deal for a valuable knife that I win in the lottery. Especially when it’s out there for all of the Internet reselling scum to see. And it’s just bad form to publish email addresss publicly.

I think Mike was saying only some of your email address would be exposed. Enough for you to recognize it but not enough for people to obtain the full address.

Example: if your email was johndoe@bf.com it might look like j*h*d*e@b*.com

Correct. Of course I would not publish clear text email addresses for even the other entrants to see. But that would be enough for you to be able to verify your email in the results.
 
I am impressed that Mike has already given away a valuable knife and a bunch of store discounts just to test a system.

On the masking of email why not have it just drop the @yourmailhost.com? I do think a masking would be good I will check and see how the masking goes in the system I work on. You probably want to setup something that will kick out an email if it is entered a 2nd time since you are using that as the unique identifier if possible.

Checked the mask on our website does x******x@yourmailhost.com

I don't have any control, the first entry is the only one required unique - so I have to change it to the email. And they skew the emails in the results as mentioned - every other letter changed to "*" on the public list.
 
I’m not mad and honestly, thanks for thinking of everyone. It’s certainly not unfair...

I see you put a lot of thought into this and whether people see it or not - thanks, for your time.
 
After going through another drop from KSF, I think that this lottery system is going to be better. You might not get a knife every time. But there is more inherent equity. I have been able to score with KSF every time I have tried but, its a crazy mad scramble, and does not seem fair to everyone. I look forward to this new system.
 
I have a solution to the problem.

By the Queen assets and start building your own with GEC's quality control. :p
