I have seen several threads asking, Why do you carry a knife? I find that hard to anwser, there are many, reasons. I always carry a knife, even if I am wearing sweats and am doing nothing but watching TV. I feel naked without one. Some days I don't use it much, some days I use it alot. One of the first things I do when I get up is put my knife in my pocket. I thought it would be interesting to see how and how much everybody uses their EDC.

Today I have been baby sitting a 16 month old little boy. So I have not used it a whole lot so far. I started the day by cutting open a box of diapers, I cut open three letters I recieved in the mail, and cut open a package from UPS and opened a can of Copenhagen. That is it for now, I do have to do some work later tonight so I am sure It will get some more use.

Just maybe an hour ago I used my BM 550OD to open up a plastic bag that had bread rolls in it for a roast beef sandwich I was going to make. I then used my BM 806D2 to cut the bread down the middle to open it up and after I made the sandwich I used it to cut the sandwich in half :D ... who know what else I'll do tonight.

I might add that my 806 held its own against any kitchen bread knife in opening up that roll without tearing it at all ;)

Hey Josh, I just sat down and saw your post - coincidence - I just finished stropping my Razel which, by the way, kicked butt on our camping trip on the Gulf Coast! Besides that, I opened two envelopes today, but that was with a Terzuola. But they were giant, threatening envelopes.

I got the cubicle next to our dept communal fridge, so I am master of the beverages. I took down a couple boxes that got emptied of sodas and cut up a few of them six-pack plastic thingies. Was prime rib at the News Cafe today so I rinsed off my blade wiped it down and ate with it....rinsed and wiped it good after.

I don't mind using it for anything cause its just a cheapo Sebenza. ;)

My groups printer ran short of toner and my BFC Native 3D made fast work of the sealing materials standing between us and our high contrast output!

Employed the services of my 79mm Rescue to cut new trimmer line for a Troy-Bilt trimmer/mower. Some tough stuff, the "commercial" four-sided .155" string. Yesterday I used my keychain Jester to cut the hard plastic strips that absorb shock between a toolbox and the diamondplate surface of a flatbed truckbed. Certainly not a job for a keyring knife. I was "showcasing" the sheer cutting ability of Spyderco knives for the benefit of my co-workers. :D

I used my 806D2 to open the mail (tough job, I know), bust open the tape on a box, then take cut down another, big box for the recycle bin. Pretty much an average days work.

Trimmed my fingernails with an 806D2S this morning. Opened a few packages and thats been about it for today. Hmmm..slow day  I'll have to find more stuff to cut tomorrow cause I sharpened some stuff today too :D

I have used my Benchmade Ares to cut boxes and packaging tape while preparing to ship a couple of knives. I also used it to cut some plastic tabs off of a new leash and collar for my Rott.
I am doing my taxes online at this moment and if they dont start looking better, might be using my Spyderhawk to do some paper shredding. ;)

Used my BUCK 110 to cut fishing line and to cut bait. I used my OLD TIMER stockman to clean my fingernails. Fun day.

I carry a small strop block and when I am bored I strop the edge trying for that nth degree of sharpness. I used it to entertain myself that is all I used it for today.

Used my SE Native to cut some rope and strip cable sheathing at work. Opened up the mail with it. Then cleaned it up to get ready for another exciting day tomorrow!

Today I used my new Benchmade 722 to cut a Master combination lock out of the hard plastic casing that it was packaged in, for a student at the college that I work at...(Usually, it takes a chainsaw to cut through that stuff, but this 722 cut through it like warm butter, and THAT suprised even me!.:).).

At lunch I used the large auto blade of my Hubertus Camper to open the packaging that the food was in and later I used the small manual blade to cut out a piece of red paper in a starburst shape to make a price tag for a bike we have for sale.

INteresting thread question, by the way. For me, I've been carrying my EDC mostly at home because I work from a home office. I opened several packages and mail, but for the most part, I've just been playing with this new Lochsa constantly. Opening & closing throughout the day. I can't seem to put it down.

Today, I didn't use my current EDC, but I did use one of my knives. I used the #2 phillips on and old Wenger SAK to tighten a knob on my dad's desk drawer, I was studying there and for some reason its wobbling drove me nuts. Today I didn't even carry a knife; I didn't leave the house today and I certainly didn't bring it to school, so all of my blades were closeby.

I lent my 806D2 to my brother today so he could cut a plastic cord that tied together a pair of shoes he wanted to try on while we were in a department store.

806D2 sure seems like a popular EDC choice.

I used my EDC (Mnandi w/African Blackwood inlays) to open a few small envelopes and a couple of larger manila envelopes that I had received at the office. Pretty boring huh? :(
