How you used your EDC today?

OK, today was pretty boring (opened a box, or something), but Saturday and Sunday, I used my SRKW Bandicoot to chop down a bunch of Blackberry brambles, some of which were up to 3/4" in diameter. Who says short blades don't chop?

I'm off this week so I get to spend alot of time at the barn, were I keep my horse. It is a show horse barn with horses in training, I work horses with the trainer and help out with the basic chores. My Buck/Mayo was busy today...cut open about 8 bales of hay, 20 bags of stall shavings, 3 bags of grain. Trimmed 4 leather hoof pads for a horse he shoed today. Cut the tail wrap for a couple who got their tails braided. Cut the twine off, that was holding the long poles, on the harness of a young horse. Cut some rubber tubing we used for side check extensions. Quarted a bunch of apples, gave each horse a couple pieces before I left.

Used my Sebbie to cut the tags off of a new tie this morning, opened 3 or 4 envelopes, and then for lunch today I got a takeout calzone.....It arrived with one of those flimsy plastic knives that practicly snaps in half when you try and use it on anything....So my edc to the rescue, it made nice little bite size pieces of that tough ol' calzone with ease. Later, I picked up Kill Bill Vol.1 on my way home, and proceeded to use it to open it as soon as I got home and changed. A sharp knife is a neccessity to open the security tape on those things...quick slit right down the seems of the case and presto.

Guess thats it for today.

I used my lg Sebenza to open the box that my 8-month old son's activity table came in, then used it a little later to cut through the shrink-wrap a case of soda. Made quick work of an orange peel after lunch. It did a wondrous job on my cuticles too, though it added another "friction groove" to each of my nails.

I'm trying to get comfortable with my new Paramilitary to put it into EDC rotation, so I brought that with me to open/close/fidget with on the way to my krav maga class. Actually showed up with all my fingers intact, too.

Today, I used my SOG Outdoor Mini AutoClip to open some mail and also to prepare lunch and dinner. Mined you dinner was Dutch Oven chicken soup which requires a lot of work with the knife. I had to cut up enought onion, potatoes, carrots, celery and chicken to fill a 6 quart dutch oven. And my little AutoClip handled it really well.

Using my BM31s Balisong, opened the packaging for a CD (Lord Tanimo's "In the Mood for Ska", if anyone cares) from amazon.com. At work I opened a new box of pepperoni, cut the bag open with it, and take down the empty box. I also destroyed a plastic soda bottle for no reason other than boredom. Cleaned the pizza gunk from my fingernails with my Leatherman Micra. After work I let someone use my Micra's scissors to work on a poster for our group project because there was only 1 other pair of scissors. Fiddled and twirled with the bali all day to keep occupied.

Hey Josh, I just sat down and saw your post - coincidence - I just finished stropping my Razel which, by the way, kicked butt on our camping trip on the Gulf Coast! Besides that, I opened two envelopes today, but that was with a Terzuola. But they were giant, threatening envelopes.

Rob, I am glad to see you are enjoying the Razel. If I remember correctly our first conversation was about a clip point, somehow  you ended up with a Razel. So I am glad to see it is working out for you, and I didn't end up like :footinmou

Well, I am done working for the night. I am sorry to say that my EDC did not even come out of it's sheath. It was just in my pocket for piece of mind. Hopefully it will have a more productive day tomorrow.

I used my Sebenza to cut off the plastic on my two new CDs:

The original soundtrack of Master and Commander
Musical Evenings with the Captain (music played by Jack Aubrey and Stephen Maturin in the novel series by Patrick O'Brian)

I used my SAK to halve the roll I had with lunch. I cleaned my nails with the SAK.

I used the Sebenza to slice some cheese.

Wild times, eh?

I really wish you didn't ask that question, because I didn't consider my actions til now. I carried my Calypso Jr. today and first used it to cut some linoleum around a toilet. Later I cut some cheese with it. I washed it in between but... :barf:

Not yet, (it's only 10:27 AM) but I will be using my Spyderco Mouse during lunch to slice up an orange apple.

Ted

It was a light-use day. I used my SAK recruit to slice an apple. I also opened and closed my Spyderco Dragonfly to amuse myself. I consider that using a knife. :p

I'm almost ashamed to admit it, but I used my Victorinox Spartan to cut some Spam for a sandwich. Yep, I must be one of the few, the silent few that actually likes Spam.
Thank goodness it's not as salty as it once was.

Used my AFCK to clean my nails this morning, then loaned it to my fiancee so she could take it to work at the greenhouse. She wants a knife for work, but has never carried one before, so doesn't know if she wants a full-size, or one of the smaller ones. I'll let you know if she does anything whacky with it. :D

I used my Military (PE 440V) to open some letters, and the phillips screwdriver of my Mini-Champ SAK to open the battery compartment of my notebook.

Peeled an orange with SAK Tinker, lucky for the me the sheeple did not see me using the "weapon" on my lunch break.
