HUNT Crooked River

Got one inbound. Thanks for the pics with the scales off. Thinking about making some with some stabilized royal walnut burl for mine.

Got mine today, WoW and a smile was about all I could say getting her out of the box, very sleek yet wide enough to grip securely, overall simply amazing workmanship on this one and the slight bit of bling seems quite tasteful in my eyes...it cheers me ;)

I just don't get why they didn't make the knife an official Blue Class. I mean... it says "Blue Class" right on the box. The materials and finish on this knife are certainly above par for a BC knife. Why continue with the HUNT boxing?

It fits into the Hunt line pretty well thematically speaking. All S30V, all offering Dymondwood scales and this is definitely their interpretation of the traditional folding hunter pattern.

I managed to pull the trigger on #44 of400. This thing was bigger than I expected but I still love it. I carry either a standard tanto Recon 1 (xhp which is excellent) for work or an 810-1401 in my back pocket at home. Dunno if the Crooked River is actually bigger or not but the clip point makes me feel like Crocodile Dundee.

Nice looker, sharp too

I might hold out for a Gold Class version, with titanium, if that is ever in the works. I've got lots of big knives, though, so this one is calling my name, and I may just have to get one in G10/Al. I like the orange highlights, as well.

Second Crooked River just arrived today. Now two first production 'Rivers are in-house... #175 to collect and #354 to use.

Mine is in, and looks like the royal walnut is just the right thickness. I might see if I have anything better though. The bolsters appear to be detachable also, which means that it might also be feasible to replace those with some damascus or mokuti.

Well, I see why you did the screw up top. Machining out that pocket and getting those tabs to fit is a PITA.

It's not that the tabs or pockets are a PITA.
Actually, I have both a CF and Ironwood set that I need to make very soon.
I don't think those tabs, when made out of wood, will be durable enough for to hold up.
The screw is a much more durable mount.
If you notice, I also made the other 2 original scale screws disappear too.
They now reside under the scale.
