Huntin with your Traditional Knives

Congratulations Chris, you got 'er done. I made a crockpot of venison chili for dinner tonight, still enjoying last seasons deer. OH

Thanks OH. I have a better appreciation for the super thin grinds on the Bose Zulu fixed blade now. The thing cuts like a scalpel.

I didn't get any pics but I used my case large stockman and mora to dress out a 5point and 7point whitetail deer I shot last weekend in Georgia

Congratulations on the deer Lesbaer1911. I don't always think of taking pictures. I have a tendency to just take care of the task at hand.

I'm gonna join you guys with the first fresh venison of the season. The Dozier worked great!

Congratulations Jake. Good to see that Dozier put to work. Never had a doubt that it would perform admirably. It always feels good to use a knife that performs the tasks it was made for well.

Thanks Chris. Wasn't a big deer but it'll be plenty of meat to start the season off with. The good thing is, now I can take a different knife out next time!

Fried deer meat with taters and gravy is my favorite meal! Hopefully I'm blessed with a whitetail this weekend for opening day!

Snapped a picture from the stand this morning with my almond bone #73. Didn't see any deer or turkeys today, but that's okay. Time spent in the woods is enjoyable even without getting anything.

I got this guy a couple weeks ago and he was 165 lbs dressed out, so I already had a pretty good start to the season anyway.

Sweet photos and gear, dannyp.

That's a fine buck, and any day spent huntin's a fine day, hey?

Keep those photos comin', boys and girls!

Thanks. There's almost always something to watch even if you don't see what you're looking for. The squirrels are in overdrive here with the huge number of acorns we have this year.

Spent the weekend hunting with my S&M Gunstock. I agree with "dannyp" part of the fun is watching all of the animals and birds. There are a ton of ruffed grouse this year where we hunt and they make a surprising amount of noise when they are meandering through the woods. Also saw a Fisher which is pretty rare. The woodpeckers, blue jays, crows, ravens, and owls always provide a cacophony of sound to keep me entertained as well.

Got out for a squirrel hunt with my Dad today.
Fun day. I had a little 6 point buck 10feet from me today.
The bucks are starting to move around here.
The squirrel were out and moving around too.
Here is our take from the hunt with my trusty #23 and my first time to carry the Zulu. Didn't use it skinning but thought I would put it in the picture since it was on the hunt with me.

Thank you, its actually Winchester Model 94 30-30.

Very nice.
I have a winny 94 30-30 as well. Great rifle.
Here in Ohio we have to use straight wall cartridge only so I set up a Henry 44 with a leupold scope to hunt with.
Can't wait to try it out in a couple weeks.

This evening was an interesting one for sure. I live way out in the country but still have some houses in the area . I was almost home and saw a guy, his wife and two kids with flashlights by the gravel road. To me it was obvious they were tracking a deer. I offered to help and got out with my own light. After about 100 yards of tracking I knew we needed assistance. I called a buddy that has an outstanding tracking dog. Keeping tabs on the dog with GPS collar was easy. She bayed the deer in a cattle pasture. The deer wasn't dead yet, my Saddle Horn by Kerry Hampton finished the job as the other guys kept a huge black Angus bull steered away with some big limbs.

This is Katie with her prize, and saving the day for a 10 year old on his first deer.
