God but that is a beautiful knife! Love those gratuitous pictures of it too. ;) :D

Thanks guys! Saw a handful of deer each of the past few days at my friend's camp. No good shots and never spotted any of the big bucks that are on camera. Oh well, home now and looking forward to some sleep.

I shot this eight point buck on election day, field dressed with a Buck 118 then skinned and cut up with an Old Timer 160OT(Schrade USA). I'll be out looking a doe later next week - hope I can get one, then I can fish and duck hunt during the week of Thanksgiving. OH

Congrats on a besutiful buck!
Did you get that one with your 308?

I've been hunting in archery with no luck so far. I missed a big seven point on Monday, but outside of that everything else has been too far.

Here is my view.

The stand up on the hill is actually our rifle stand. I was sitting there on Monday as the morning was freezing. I was shocked when a big doe brought that seven to within 25 yards. I miss ranged the buck and sent a bolt over his back. Headed to a different stand tonight.

In the meantime, I've been trying to bag a big ol' gray squirrel at my house. It will be my first kill on my own acre of land!

OH, congrats on the buck!

Johnny, good luck out there, great view from that stand for sure. I never have much luck hunting over a field, it seems I do better in the woods for some reason.

Thanks gents! Johnnie, shot this buck with my Winchester M70, 270 WIN, at 43 yards! He walked right to me - had his nose up, winding me and following my scent - never seen one do that before. I have been cleaning the rifle and sharpening knives this afternoon - going to switch up for this coming Friday's hunt - different rifle, different knives. Good luck gents! OH

Sounds like the way I do it too OH. I seem to switch it up randomly throughout the hunting season. I'll be taking my new featherweight .243 out for opening day this Saturday unless it's raining and then I'll be taking the Tikka in .270.

For knives.....hopefully FedEX is nice this week and I can take a new one that's making it's way from Japan.

Great thread! Ive really been enjoying it. Funny how I came to the forum in search of a deer knife over two years, bought a GL Drew, and haven't been in the woods since. Man I miss it. Maybe next year.

OH,I've had deer walk at me from down wind while I was smoking a cigarette ya never know.

I was doing some exploring on the land we hunt and had to cross a peat bog, decided to rest a bit and snapped this pic.

That's a bummer, but at least it was a clean miss. I'll take that over tracking a suffering wounded deer any day.

Sat was opening day of firearms deer season here in MO. I decided not to shoot any of the deer I saw, but still had a good time anyway. It's hard to beat a good knife, a lever gun, and some time in the woods.

Gents, love the firearms/knife photo's - guess that's why a gun & knife show is so much fun - I like em both! OH

Me, too! I don't shoot this Prussian Chas. Daly heavy Ten, and I don't use the Walden Knife Co., but I had fun taking the (too dark) photo. I never seem to remember to take a pic of both the knife and the animal or the gun.

Here is my S&M that I just gifted to my Dad.
He was using it to help skin and commented on how nice it was. When we were done I told him to put it in his pocket.
