Hunting and Trapping

No deer today. But before every outing I pray for a safe and successful hunt. And by success I always ask that I can bring with me out of the woods that which I need. Today that was a sence of peace and calm. Exactly what I needed.

Dad and I each got bucks this weekend..We each have one tag left and I have blk bear and hog still to go.

I was looking back thru my photobucket, and found this photo of a deer stand we made Dad. He hunted at a friends farm that had one similar, so we made this one. It's the only stand we have with a roof, built on an old wagon frame. He shot a buck the first year he used it during muzzleloader season in the rain.

It's raining here, and I'm home with my daughter looking back thru some photos. Here's a couple trapping photos from last year.

A friend of mine sent me a photo yesterday of a nice buck he shot, and has trailcamera photos of another wide antlered buck that he hopes his son gets. Makes me want to get out in the woods, hopefully I'll get a chance in October.

The first day of archery season is this Saturday. It's been raining since last Friday and doesn't look like it will stop for a couple more days. We need the rain and I'm not complaining but I will have to come up with a back-up plan for this weekend. The place I plan to hunt requires crossing a river that will most likely be flowing too high to cross.

Got my deer permits in the mail yesterday. So ready for November.

No monsters on the cameras yet this year. But this may be my last year to hunt where I am, so I doubt I will be picky. Does taste good too. :D

ahh. hope you find another spot.

archery season starts Saturday for me too. my first. i did not get out to practice as much as i wanted. i will probably limit myself to fairly close range shots (if i get so lucky). but, i found a good spot this past weekend. plenty of traffic, looked like.

thanks for reviving this thread.

Best of luck for a safe and successful day Saturday.

Well? any luck? all i can say is that i should've been squirrel hunting. :D

The storm didn't hit as hard as forecast but there was enough wind and rain for me to enjoy a lazy day of college football and pumpkin ale.

I've been convinced for years that the best method to hunt squirrels would be to pretend you're deer hunting. Maybe you'll have better luck on your next outing.

^^^^ That's a great video. I love watching animals when they get close. I'll always remember sitting in a ground blind many years ago with my son snoring as several deer passed within a few yards of us. I knew that he would spook the deer if I woke him so I sat there and took mental pictures that I still enjoy. Thanks for sharing the video.
