We haven't had a current overall hunting thread in awhile.

Where'd you go? What did you hunt?
It don't matter if you were successful or not but at least you got outside.
And of course include a knife pic along with any other pictures you can share.

Thanks.

Day 2 whitetail hunting Michigan's UP.

It's more fun when it snows.

Saw a few does, but I did well day 1, so I'm really just enjoying the scenery at this point.

My buddy took a 7 point that morning from the blind I hunted day 1 as well.

Great idea, Gary!
Our annual elk hunt near Walden, CO was not productive but as always enjoyable. The annual South Dakota pheasant hunt a couple of weeks ago was not as good or as productive as in previous years but still very enjoyable(Dutch, see avatar, didn't care). I've been dove and duck hunting this year again not very productive.
Hunting in Colorado has changed because of the huge numbers of people who have moved into the state over the years.
No pictures from any of this year's hunts but I always have this 118 with me plus a few others.

Well, the bummer is I’ve deleted all the knife pictures I took in Idaho. After I post something I usually do that to keep space free. I used my drop point 112 on 3 elk this season. A spike for me and a couple of 5x5’s for my buddies. Here’s a couple pictures I saved but just close your eyes and imagine that 112 in the shot😉

Edited to add: I was able to pull this photo from another thread. This is the trusty 112 and my always faithful Kimber rifle.

I bet hunting in the UP is great. Hopefully it is more open ground than under the bridge. Under the bridge it is pretty much family ground or at least in the southwest part of the state it is.

Everything is better there.😁

There's lots of gov't land to hunt.

My buddy has property that's been in his family for over 100 years.

So far I’ve downed a couple of does for friends, been watching a nice buck, trying to put my son-in-law on him (but you can’t ever put a buck in the bank!). This doe was shot on 10/28 with a Winchester M94 chambered for the 32 Win SPL, it’s a vintage rifle going back to 1958, a final gift from a departed buddy (that’s me holding it on the woods lane right after loading the doe). My Buck 118 is a permanent resident in my hunting pack. OH

I hunted some when I was younger, mostly small game, rabbit, squirrel, and pheasant. Fished a good bit in my youth on Cayuga Lake in NY. For a number of years I would go deer hunting with friends but never harvested a deer. Didn't really try or care. I was more into the fun experience of deer camp. Now in my old age I own property with Turkey and Deer. Would rather look at them than shoot them. I stocked a pond with catfish some years back for the grandkids some day but I suspect others have cleaned them out secretly at night. I would find bait containers. Found a nice backpack and a fishing pole left on the dock earlier this year.

Snake boots for the swamp lands? Growing up and hunting in Northwest Florida it was common to encounter Eastern Diamondback rattlers away from waters and cottonmouths closer to water.

Was blessed enough to rent a room in a house on Cayuga Lake when I was in chiropractic school in Seneca Falls for 3 years. House was right on the lake. We had some great times and memories on that lake.

Small 6 point I shot during archery season on November 02 of this year. My wife and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary this November about a week later. When we asked the kids what they thought we should have to celebrate, they requested butterflied back straps ...No arguments from my wife or me!

I didn't have this knife on me in the woods this time, but my Buck 673 has done the job in the past.

Just your pics of the land, I can imagine that was a great hunt.
I've never been elk hunting.
I had some chances years back but I always let the job get in way. Duh.

No, those are standard Muck boots from Tractor Supply; I have the Muck Snake boots, but they are so heavy I don’t wear them. I try to practice situational awareness and make slow stalks, especially in the swamps (Cottonmouth being the predominant snake I see). OH

matthewtstock matthewtstock - beautiful rack on that buck! OH
