It’s been a couple of years since hunting due to some hip issues but still hope each year to get out and at least chase some squirrels. Actually squirrel hunting is my favorite type of hunting. It’s just relaxing. Old picture but…

Hopefully your health allows you to get back into the woods. Squirrel hunting is a great way to spend some time in the woods and when successful provides excellent table fare

Nice looking Buck!
If I recall, you've posted some pics in the past with other nice ones. Are they all taken from the same place?

Yes sir. Most from our farm. Two from properties in the same general area. All told, maybe within five mile radius.

Well I would classify that as a beauty
Thank You Howie. I was pleased, Wishing Good Fortunes to you in the woods.

No, those are standard Muck boots from Tractor Supply; I have the Muck Snake boots, but they are so heavy I don’t wear them. I try to practice situational awareness and make slow stalks, especially in the swamps (Cottonmouth being the predominant snake I see). OH

matthewtstock matthewtstock - beautiful rack on that buck! OH

Thank You Bruce. I wore snake gaiters while in AZ, despite the slim chance of encountering a rattler this time of year. Peace of mind mostly.

T tnbillyearl Welcome to the forum sir. Nice buck you got there.

A quick recap of 2024, through Thanksgiving.
Spring turkey.

This shoveler and gadwal 2 of many ducks from January this year. Just happen to be the only 2 that made it to a photo op.

Can't forget the pheasant, partridge, and quail. These are put/take birds, but this farm makes it pretty authentic. Only difference between here and the Dakotas is we know there are birds on the property somewhere.

I guess chronologically, and spring tom from my property would be next.

Tools of the trade?
An Open Season Small Game in S30V took care of the turkey and ducks. Maybe the doves too. I don't recall if I had the Ergo Hunter Waterfowler for them or not. Then the 118 Pro on the deer.

I'll have to dig up the other knife photos. They're on here somewhere!

It's still deer season and I'm planning to take another doe for the freezer, or perhaps hunt Ft Knox for another buck. I want to stick a turkey with an arrow this fall, and it's duck season. Between work and hunting, my wife hardly sees me from November until February.

We spend the week of Thanksgiving in West Virginia. Firearms deer season begins at first light Monday morning. I always forget to take pics until after the fact. These are from day 2 or 3, opening day we had snow on the ground. No knife pics, my apologies. I shot a nice middle aged whitetail on opening day with my T/C Contender. We have 3 similar stands on the property. I brought 2 Buck 118's with me a D2 and a S35VN.

Here’s a couple pictures of a couple bucks that my wife and I have taken. The buck on the top was taken during our December muzzleloader season on my dad's farm south central Nebraska not too far off the Kansas border. He was taken with my .54 cal Hatfield plains rifle with 90 grains FF Swiss powder and a patched round ball at about 40 yds broadside. It’s was a very cold and snowy morning and I had my 80 year old father sitting beside me. After the shot he took off running up a hill and fell about 30 yds behind my pickup truck. It was a hunt I will never forget! It was nice to have my dad beside me! He scored 183 5/8. At the time he was taken he was #2 in the state with a muzzleloader. At 75 years old he’s probably the biggest buck I will ever take but one never knows.

The second buck was taken by my wife across the road from our house with her Model 70 Winchester Featherweight in 7x57 cal. He was in one of our cornfields following a hot doe. He scored 162 and is her biggest buck.

Keep on huntin!

Wow.
Seeing deer that size is blessing enough.
But to harvest them......
Impressive.

Good looking birds.
Nice deer there as well.
Those 118 Pro's were a web special weren't they?

I need to get out hunting more.
