Hurricane Isaac

I'm just east of you so we will miss this one, but, thinking about Nawlins' just the same.

Winds picking up significantly this morning. Projected 6-12 foot storm surges in my favorite fishing sPots. 18-20 inches of rainfall expected. Next 24-36 hours should be interesting. Like Samuel Jackson said in Jurassic Park..... Hold onto your butts!

Well I'm down in a Parish with a mandatory evacuation, and I think I have all the supplies I need for maybe just short of a week. So I think I'ma be fine. My power grid is a joke, so I KNOW I'm loosing power, it's just a matter of how long. There are a lot of people here in a worse position than I am and they have my best wishes.

I have a lantern, some fuel and a few good books, so I'm set. First book on the list is "Adventure Travel In The Third World: Everything You Need To Know To Survive in Remote and Hostile Destinations"

Good luck to anyone that is going to sittin through the storm with me!

Stay safe up there in the northern gulf. I hope this one wont hammer you too bad. Take all precautions. My prayers are with you.

Update: I'm about 15 miles west of New Orleans and while it was raining earlier it's stopped and now its just really windy. There were tornado warnings in the surrounding area that was awhile ago and I haven't heard anything else about it. I don't expect to see and really bad weather for good few hours.

If you want to stay updated about the storm this is the best radio station to listen to. It will listening constantly until I loose power.

Good luck to you brother...I hope you and your family are safe through the whole ordeal and wish for minimal damage (or better yet none at all!).

You, your family, and your Parish will be in my thoughts and prayers :)

I'm in st.tammany parish. The rain is starting to rev up now. It's been windy all morning but nothing too bad. Still nothing too bad, powers not even out so I'm rocking on.

I'm in vermillion parish on the 145ft mini supply vessel I am the captain over, going to ride it out here in intercostal city LA. So far 30mph winds and a sprinkle. Not expecting it to get to bad over here though. Stay safe and good luck riding out the storm.

Tangipahoa. A fellow Officer already lost power! He lives in the woods granted. But this thing hasn't even started yet!

I know there are over 2000 power outages North of the lake. Heavy winds and power lines down in Grand Isle. Heavy rain beginning in Mississippi and around the city of New Orleans. Here in St. Charles Parish it's windy and misty, but that's about it.
