Hurricane Isaac

be careful and safe, my thoughts are with everyone. We got lucky here visiting the MIL. Isaac shifted just enough to not nail us.

Good luck chaps, keep those Battle Mistresses and Bager Attacks close to hand.. they might be very useful indeed!

Glad its done up here, not much damage. Mostly flooding in the lower areas. Only saw one downed tree while going into work this morning. The water is going to be a huge problem though! There is a few more of us from LA than I thought! Maybe sometime in the near future we should all get together sometime!

Dam that feeds TangiPahoa river on verge of breaking. Said it is holding now but WILL break. Giving folks 90 minutes to get the hell out of Doge if you live within 1 mile of it. This is about to be a disaster

Scouring is a big problem at Lake Tangipahoa.

The latest word I have is that they will first try to lower the lake level by pumping it. Then do a "controlled" breach after evacuations and prior to dam failure.

LA Hwys 443 and 445 will have some flooding.

I am unsure how far south of the LA/MS line this will affect. Tangipahoa Rivers runs from LA/MS line to Hammond, LA into Lake Ponchartrain.

Various twitter posts. I think some of it was from FoxNews and some from CNN.

Can you pick up 102.1 FM Supertalk MS broadcasting from McComb/Monticello, MS? That's where I heard about the preliminary plans to pump, then controlled breach. They had someone who really knows discussing it. State of LA might actually perform the work because they might have the necessary equipment closer to that area.

I still cannot find the exact areas being evacuated. But I am searching to know.

I had been on internet watching streaming info from WWLTV.com .

Here it is.

Our parish president is working on clearing folks within half mile of Tangioahoa between kentwood and Robert They estimate 50-60 thousand folks in our parish.

We should be fine. Shelter points are here in Hammond. So we are far enough away to be considered "safe"

How does it look for Tickfaw? Are they far enough west of the river and high enough to be okay?

Another wave of storms/rain just hit you guys and might last a while.

I'd have no problem staying in the actual town of tickfaw. But some folks call a vast stretch of 442 "Tickfaw" that comes pretty close to the river. Anywhere from the tracks to the interstate would be fine though.

I understand what you mean. The people I know there are a little bit west of Hwy 51, so they should be safe. Thanks.

I hope the rest of this situation goes well for everyone affected.
