You can kinda flip an axis lock, can’t you?

Many, yes. My latest acquisition, and currently in my pocket, is a Benchmade Anthem 781. It simply falls open or closed via gravity when the AXIS lock is released. I'm loving this knife! :D

It works just as well as my G&G Hawk R.A.Z.R.

Love flippers, but lately I’ve been rediscovering the love that I have for my CRKs.
Know where you're coming from on that, DR. When I think flippers, it's my Shiros that come to mind, and that's what I'll carry, usually uninterrupted for a while. Then I'll pocket one of my CRKs one day and I'll be into them for a week or weeks. It seems my pattern trends back and forth between those two.

Same pattern for me, too. I got an Arius earlier this week so that hasn’t left my pocket since then. For me it will alternate between Koenig, Hinderer and CRK. I have finally accepted and realized that CRKs look much better to me used and being faded, scratched and worn. It’s a whole new and much more fun world for me now with my CRKs.

Me too, on the CRKs. I have one drawer queen, but the other 6 larges comprise 3 work users, 2 EDCs, and one light-carry EDC. I've been working to move on from knives I don't carry and use--Use It or Lose It--so for flippers I carry all my Shiros, 2 being work users, and 3 out 4 Hinderers are users. The Hinderers get less carry time as they don't suit my cutting needs as well, but I love their characteristic style and build quality. My ZTs honestly leave me a little cold. They're good knives that somehow seem a little soulless to me, if that makes any sense. There seems to be something of Chris in CRKs, Rick in his own-branded RHKs, and Sergey and Igor in Shiros, that's missing in ZTs, even those by noted designers.

I've got a few singles for flippers too--RJ Martin/TRM Machine Flipper, Olamic 247 Wayfarer, Cheburkov Scout, North Arm Skaha--and they all get carried and used as well.

ZT makes a great knife. I was blown away by my 0562cf and every other ZT I've owned has been top shelf. I think for the money you can't find a better value in a production knife with those materials - USA made, titanium, cpm20cv in all new models. However after getting a Hinderer the ZT did seem to be missing something. It's great in comparison to other production knives (Benchmade, Spyderco, etc) but the Hinderer has something the ZT just doesn't.

hope this isn't repeat question, I have a ZT and a Hinderer, both flippers, the Zt flips great, the Hinderer worst flipper i've owned, anybody have any clues how to improve flipping on the hinderer??? thanks!!

Trade it for a Reate or another couple ZTs.

I don't love 'em nor hate 'em especially. I much prefer thumb studs, then distant second, thumb holes. However, I do have a few flippers, 2 Vantage Selects (kind of flippers), Kershaw Camber, 0450cf and a Positron.

I would absolutely love a Feist, but have no idea as to where to find them up here. Front flippers do have an exotic aura about them though.

Don’t like flipping or flicking. For me it’s more fun to gently sweep with a thumb stud or hole. Flippers, and the ball bearings they ride on, are dealbreakers. This is my first post here. I’m 61 friggin years old. It’s great. During the past 3 years my son converted me from a gun nut to a knife nut. I’ve handled many good knives. My edc ( and I mean every day) is a CR plain jane insigngo Inkosi. My kindest regards to all of you; my fellow like-minded knife nuts.

welcome Sir.

yep I dont care much for the quick opening and fidgeting side of flippers. front flippers or flippers without the guard piece i have no use for. just like the guard part for cutting for extra safety. they arent deal breakers for me, I just dont chase them down.

I was late getting into flippers, but they have become my preferred opening system for folders.

Plus it has opened up a lot of new designs and new knife companies too.

I had several flippers including an XM 18. It flipped really well. But for me it was annoying to have to reposition my hand, post-flip, to secure a good grip. When I sweep with a thumb stud or hole my hand is more where I want it to be post-sweep. Less adjustment. Just me.

I love flippers... when they work. There is nothing more frustrating than getting a flipper that does not flip (Lionsteel KUR, I look at you).
I'm particularly happy with my Hinderer MP-1 and ZT0900. The MP-1 feels like it's hydraulic, the ZT just snap flash open. Opposite spectrum, yet same big idiot grin on me face.

My ACL tendon is broke on my right thumb. Flippers work best for me.

Ouch! Sorry about your injury. No doubt a flipper is the best for you. I have tendonitis in my wrist affecting the opposite side of the wrist away from my thumb. Even though I expressed my dislike for flippers I’m not a hater. I’d be happy to own a Koenig Arius. BTW I’m still learning how to navigate this forum. I’m not a social media person at all but, this is cool.

I like all types of openings, gives me something to do on the commute to and from work or just bored. Just started getting some front flippers.

Basically like a flipper if designed well, I definitely prefer it over a thumb stud. May not be expensive but I like the flipper in my Kershaw Skyline,it forms a small guard when deployed, the SOG Twitch 2 is okay.

I'm not fond of flippers at all. I dislike the flipper tab.

Only non-flippers for me.

I only use thumb studs and thumb holes, I actually prefer the holes. I occasionally buy a flipper if it has the thumb opening option. These are usually pretty poor flippers. They have to have another attraction.
I use my knives more as tools than fidget toys. Nothing wrong with repeated flipping ,but just not me. Speed of opening is fine with a thumb.
