I am going to say this even though it might cause a fire storm

Anyone take a bet this guy'll own 20 Spydies by the end of the year

I was put off by them when they 1st came out. Collected everything back then.
Got into Microtech folders In the late 90's. Collected only MT for about 10 yrs.
Then got into BM. Bought all the PCC and BM's I liked. LE's GC etc.
Then, bought a Spyderco. In the past 5 yrs I am sure I have picked up well over 100 of 'em.
Even got a model I dreamed up as an LE with KW. (M4 Military)
Posts like this are useless. Just vote with your dollars like the rest of us.
There is a lot of great knifes and steels out there these days.
Just find something you like and be happy.
Without crapping on anyone else.
Funny thing is, many folks feel like you.
Then they buy one.......... And....... Its on!
Highly addictive. The Blade steels alone Sal tries is reason enough.
(S90v is my personal favorite)
And his heat treat is top shelf. Sprints, small runs, fun stuff.

You do realize there are many different brands of knives right? If you don't like Spydercos, there are several other quality brands to choose from. Is knowing whether or not others feel the same way going to somehow change your opinion? I guess I really don't understand the point of this post.

The point of this thread is basically in the title.."I am going to say this even though it might cause a firestorm"

You should try the chinook. It is a beast and will make bear paws feel like little girly hands. Lol! We all have different taste.

what would be more useful is for you to tell us which knife you like, your favorite edc, compared to say a spyderco you actually owned. could make a post on benchmade or crkt or kershaw all along the same lines as your thread and you would have haters come out of the woodwork, surprising how many there are that admit they never even tried one.

the hole was a turn off for me until i actually bought one and started using it. now i wish all pocket knives had the spyder hole.

there is a thread somewhere here about why ppl like Spydies maybe you should try to find that. Me i dont like them but have handled a few the Manix had my interest but the dustup about the lock put me off. The fanboys can also be annoying as hell if you say anything negative and that in itself is idiotic. I have big hands and prefer a folder i can hammer on so thats another issue i have with Sal's product. Im not saying they are SUPPOSED to be hammered on but i have found other production folders which suit me much better.

I don't get it either. Never held a Spyderco in my life and probably never will.
They're ugly with very thin flat handles. I also don't get why the are so high priced.

Plus having read a thread about the Manix's ball lock failing where Spyderco's response was very uncool I'm not exactly hurrying to buy one of them.
Also seeing the Tenacious having paper thin bushings (even my $6 Sanremnu doesn't have that) doesn't help.

well there ya go sanremnu if your shopping the $6 price range theres not much good to be said for anything that costs more than a happy meal. and of course you tube is the real test of what is and isnt good in the life of a happy mealer. i have a manix its an ok knife, i am not a huge fan but batoning with any folder is something kiddies do for youtube videos and has no merit for real life use. the tenacious is an outstanding knife , own one and use it often. dont find the bushings to be an issue as this isnt a area where flipping it open less than a million times would cause enough wear to need to replace them.

He defended why he has reservations towards Spyderco and you go and attack him personally. You aren't making Spyderco fanboys look good right now.

You obviously have some curiosity, otherwise you would not have posted here. It's very obvious you prefer SRM knives and have a higher level of manufacturing and enginnering understanding than any of us. Thank God there are many manufacturers that produce a multitude of other products. Buy what you like, but don't troll or post antagonistically.

I should clarify...the folders/assisted just seem like a simple knife. I don't understand the price and love affair. Because of this love affair by others, I am trying to keep an open mind and hope someone can explain to me the passionate following. Also keep in mind I am not a knife snob or genius. Just trying to learn. :)

If you spend some time reading through posts, you will see why people like these knives so much. You will also discover that it isn't necessary to start multiple threads on the same topic, search works for Registered Users as well. Try and get some experience under your belt too, particularly before delving into topics you have little to no knowledge about. It will save on embarassment later. That is how you learn, a little humility goes a long way ;)

I hope the comments on price are made with the realization that you will find the knives for considerably less than MSRP if you look for five minutes.

I dont understand these posts... There are many knives I dont like... Do I go on their forum and bash them? No?

Like my father says, "if you have nothing nice to say, dont say it"

Dont like Spyderco, or any brand for that matter.. Fine, dont buy the knives and stick to what you want.

Talk about beating a dead effing horse.

Dont look at these!:barf:
You might go blind!
Random sample of a few of my favorite Spyderco's.

I really do not like Spyderco knives. I don't like the way they feel in my hand. (although I have been told my hands are more like bear paws). The design is unattractive and in wielding them I believe they are highly overrated. Maybe that is.why I see so many for sale on this site. I cannot,be,the only one with this opinion. Thoughts or counterpoints?

You've tried out all of the 150+ models and haven't found one you like? Too bad, I guess you'll have to try another brand, good luck in your hunt. If the Hossums didn't work for you, you may have to go with a custom.

For what it's worth, he didn't start this thread here, it was moved from General.
