Hi BushOgre,

Sorry for your dislike of our products. I think that perhaps more study will be necessary before your opinion can be touched. Just about every part of every design has a purpose. They're often thin because that makes them esier to carry and thus will be carried more often. Steels, grinds, edge geometry's, handle materials are all upper end. Try one for a month. Then let us know your thoughts.

Unbelievable professionalism. :)

OP, find a dealer near you and handle 10, 20, or 30 of them. Find one you like :)

Counterpoints?

Yeah, you can think or feel whatever you want. It's your loss. You'll never experience spyderco's precision edge and steels like S90V and CPM M4 for a very affordable price

So, my main question is what the hell was the purpose of starting this thread??

To me, it just looks like ALL you are trying to do is to start crap with the Spyderco community. Why come to a forum dedicated to a maker, and then make a thread about how you don't like them you think they're overrated, blah blah blah. Of course, the other people coming here LIKE Spyderco...because they aren't idiots who hang around forums of products they don't like.

There are lots of knife brands I'm not into...guess what? I DON'T VISIT THEIR FORUMS! And I certainly don't visit their forums and tell them how I was never impressed with their product and a bunch of other crap.

You don't have to like it, but any sane, intelligent person would keep their freaking mouth shut and go talk on another page about something they DO like.

I know, my post is pointless, since if this is a troll job, he doesn't want to hear it anyway.

If this thread is serious, and not just trying to start a flame war--my suggestion is this.

Try a Stretch 2, Manix 2, or Military (Temperance 2 works too). Those all fit large hands very very well. If you don't like the feel of those, I don't know what to tell you.

I think like Sal said, it may be you just are not used to Spyderco knives. The ergonomics fit the hand better than any knife I've ever held. And my hands are very large, I wear an XL to XXL glove size, and still, basically every spyderco designed handle I've held feels very comfortable. As he said, I think if you gave it a chance and carried it for an extended period, you would feel differently.

I don't get it either. Never held a Spyderco in my life and probably never will.
They're ugly with very thin flat handles. I also don't get why the are so high priced.

Plus having read a thread about the Manix's ball lock failing where Spyderco's response was very uncool I'm not exactly hurrying to buy one of them.
Also seeing the Tenacious having paper thin bushings (even my $6 Sanremnu doesn't have that) doesn't help.

What was spyderco's response? I know of two threads or instances in which a Manix's ball lock was "out of spec," and in both instances, IIRC, the owner was more that satisfied with the outcome. As a matter of fact I believe in both instances Sal had a hand in making things right.

p.s. referring to another post of yours. THIS is not a flame war. It is actually more polite than I expected. As much as you may want it to be a flame war, most of the spydie nuts here know how to use the honey over vinegar approach. Shiny footsteps and all.

I'm not going into detail because I think it could be seen as trolling, going off topic or adding fuel to the fire.

I don't want an infraction.
I will private message you the thing I was talking about.

Edit
It seems I can't send you a private message..

To each their own--I've loved Spydies ever since I got an all stainless Native 2 back in '01. I carry a mother-of-pearl and abalone Kopa in my weak side front pocket and it's an amazing cutter for its size and weight. It feels a lot bigger in hand than it really is to me.

*sigh*
Because he never came to the spyderco subforums in the first place and he never started a thread here, it was moved here from general. A better and more interesting question is why you don't read all the posts before you choose to respond.

On another note...
Its just his opinion boys, no need to get your panties in a knot. ;)

Am I restating the obvious theme for this thread? When someone is critical of something another person loves, it's human nature for the other person to get scratchy about it.

OP, tell me what else you don't like.. just in general about anything.. I'm really intersted in hearing everything you don't like.. Elmo? Coconut? The way corn never seems to disappear? crumbs?

Why would you make a post about something you don't like? Why don't you find a forum that has to do with a knife make/modle you do like a post a review of it? Try something constructive instead of destructive.

I was really surprised to see your post count was less than 15... NOT!

If you have large hands then a milli might fit the bill. And if after that you don't like em then each to their own.

Its amazing how many "experts" there are that have probably never touched a spyderco, much less even seen one in person.

This thread kinda bummed me out, and I started thinking there may be some lovely little Spydies out there who will be shunned and never adopted to a good home. So I went out today and bought yet another delicious Spyderco! Behold: my first fully-serrated Spydie! I dig it...:cool::thumbup:

I really do not like Spyderco knives. I don't like the way they feel in my hand. (although I have been told my hands are more like bear paws). The design is unattractive and in wielding them I believe they are highly overrated. Maybe that is.why I see so many for sale on this site. I cannot,be,the only one with this opinion. Thoughts or counterpoints?

I've never really been a fan of any production knife company and do not care for 75% of Spyderco designs. That being said, there are a handful of Spydercos that really seem to stand out from the rest. I like the lightweight G-10 handles and reversible clips on the Delica, Endura, and Tasman. I think their hawkbill designs are some of the best in the world. I like their Fred Perrin designs as well as the SWICK which was based on the LaGriffe. For a heavyweight folder, the Keating Chinooks I-III are pretty good too. They've done a lot of good stuff. Something for almost everybody.

Honestly, your opinion is your opinion, but threads like this are a waste of bandwidth.

No kidding. I've been reading some of these comments and just shaking my head in amazement.
