I broke my cold steel Spartan!!!!!

i have emailed zero tolerance with a none emergency question and did not think they would email me back, untill three months later i finally got a respones. sometimes companyies are slamed with stuff to do and when you email them something that leaves it up to them when to respond. call them first and then email pics if they need it.

That diagram indicates, to me, in my ever so humble opinion, that this knife was broken by a severe impact to the blade spine.
Now, what could possibly cause such a thing....
Oh, right! The old "Hey fellas, look how strong my knife's lock is!" **THWACK** "Oops!"

This thread has gone on for a month now. Send your knife in, but don't admit to the warranty department that you spine-whacked it. End of story.

Dude, send your knife in to Cold Steel. Include a polite, typed letter explaining how it broke. Ask for a replacement. You'll have a brand new Spartan within a few weeks. End of story.

Am I missing it, or have you taken everyone's advice and CALLED THEM? Even Benchmade has had email issues. Benchmade's CS rivals Kershaw's and I've had emails go unanswered from them. Then, when I called, I got apologies and prompt service. Call them!

It's been a month- I no longer care
It will continue to sit on my desk and I'm not taking any further action

Negative comments are no longer important. I don't care

I am not bashing cold steel- being one of my favorite my knife companies, that I enjoy many products from

Let this thread die- it's over
I'm done with folding knives anyway

I'm not a metallurgist or an expert in these matters but it looks (based on this blurry photo from the OP) as if there was a crack in the blade tang so that only about 40% of the metal was actually holding it together. Notice that there's a bright metal part and the rest of the surface is blackened, as are many of the rest of the surfaces shown. To me this means that only the shiny part was intact, the rest of the metal was cracked, allowing dirt and other gick to enter the crack. If the entire surface was shiny it would show that the entire part broke off, instead of just part of it. I'd say that was a factory defect.

I have several CS knives, like them all, but I realize that mistakes happen.

Looks like the OP has just given up. That makes no sense to me. I can't figure out why it's too much trouble for him to just make a phone call. I've done so a couple of times and gotten right in.

Seriously? Can't just make a phone call?
Obviously, someone has yet to learn the value of a dollar.

Maybe Xanra is a minor. A lot of his posts are pretty juvenile. Anyway, that would explain his lack of action on this. Maybe he's afraid to actually talk to a rep.

Save the personal attacks for whine and cheese- golly maybe you'll start a thread just for me, that'd make my day:D

I said I'm not dealing with it- value for your dollar? I Don't use it, my endura 1 has replaced all of my knives- so it is in many ways not worth anything now none of my knives are

I'm content with it's condition- it's the only defective knife I've ever owned, maybe I want to cherish it:P

A problem with my posts? I do too- typing every post on your phone takes away a lot of your formality though I'm pretty good at keeping it

This thread is over- I broke my Spartan and I have no desire to go through the trouble to deal with customer service, it's nothing against them- I just have a life, and packages that aren't new toys I'm not interested in

What does not make sense to me is that the OP had the energy and time to start this thread and post follow-ups to it a number of times. He even posted photos, and typed his posts on a phone, which he concedes was not so easy to do. Seems like a bit of effort to me. But then he claims not to care enough to use his phone even once to call the company that would probably send him a new knife. If he truly did not care, then why all the posts in this thread? It makes no sense at all. Heck, I would call them just to get the replacement Spartan, even though I do not really crave that particular model. It simply does not add up, sorry.

Strikes me as odd that there are so many CS haters on this forum yet people seem so keen for the OP to contact them for a new knife. If mine had broke like that I might want my money back but would never want another knife the same ever again...that's just me !

If I broke my warranty'd knife I'd dame sure call unless if was blatant abuse. No offense but even cold steel knives are expensive to me I can't just waste $.

Well I cared when it happened

Now I don't... All my money and energy is being poured into welding and knives not made by me are no longer thought much about

Something wrong with that? Should be... But you know...

I'm calling BS on this charade XanRa! Nobody that was upset enough about the failure of a heavy duty folder, started a tread about it, posted many details, suppplied pics and so on just decides - "I don't care about this knife any more" - so much so that the person won't take the phone he surfs the net on and dial 11 digits to obtain a brand new, free exxample of the same blade that he at one time was enamoured with. BS!!

I'd say the OP no longer cares because he thinks he has accomplished what he set out to do in the first place.
