I encountered an armed burglar & held him at gunpoint!!! – NOT A JOKE!!!

Good job well done. If we all stand our ground and take these crooks down, they would think twice before committing these crimes.
 
Let me think, 20 years, out in three, recommitts the crime and violates terms of his parole. Only receives ~2 more years?!

Damn revolving-door legal system.

No, he got 600 more days to serve of the old sentence because he violated parole. Trial for the current crime is yet to come. Problem isn't a revolving door, it's a slow walk down a long hallway just to get it done.
 
Glad it turned out okay Andy. I agree with securing the guns you aren't carrying with a cable and eye bolt if you can't get a safe. I also will suggest that you and others might not want to search your house but rather take up position around the perimeter until LEO's arrive once you strongly believe it has been broken in to. They have the body armor and the radios for backup. I might have done the same thing myself though, way to be prepared.
