I got off my butt and wrote a book!

Seems like something I'd enjoy, added it to my "To Read" list on GoodReads :) Glad there's a Kindle version.

For sure.
I wanted people to have options:
-The Kindle is value priced, but the formatting isn't quite as nice as the paper version. Good value for the money though.
-The paperback has the good formatting, and looks nice in person. It costs more than the Kindle (or other electronic versions), but is good for those who like a tangible object to hold.
-The hardcover costs the most, but feels like the deluxe version. The size and thickness of it is pretty much exactly that of the diaries people write in, which gives an extra cool factor to it (being the diary of a superhero/psycho and all). The binding is quite good as well...it is good for those who like to collect extra expensive things in general.

Three options at three price points. I like how that works out.:)

I had an interview with The Lance (the University of Windsor newspaper) about the book, and they did a write-up and review:

(The Lance, Volume#85, Issue#34)

They got a couple things wrong, but overall the publicity is a good thing. The girl who did the review concluded with "Overall Stabman exposes a thirst for violence and an excessive knowledge of gun models and makes." Ironic that a university person could say there's such a thing as too much knowledge about anything.

They also asked about what martial arts I've done...this is a good answer, I think:

Stabman says, "Each rapist removed from the face of the planet is equal to at least three trees as far as planetary positivity is concerned."

So remember folks, more trees, and less rapists makes the world a happy place...and rapists make great fertilizer for trees. Wisdom from the mouth of a psycho.

(And it looks like the book may end up being in another bookstore soon...harassment works!)

Congratulations, I will definitely be picking this up! Will you sign it?

I can certainly do signed copies no problem.
I have enough on hand now to offer that; anyone that wants one would just have to pay actual shipping cost. No additional fee, and in fact I can beat the on-line price except for shipping (unlike Amazon, I don't get a deal with the post office ;)).

She seems perceptive, have you asked her out yet ? :D

Major Edit:

Okay, in the USA, Amazon.com still has the book for the correct Kindle price ($3.99), but when viewed on Canadian computers it shows as $9.76.
(shows up on American computers correctly though).

HOWEVER, Amazon.ca in Canada right now is raping people price-wise to the tune of $9.99 for the Kindle edition as of now, confirmed by phone call.

I am working with the publisher to correct whatever major stupidity occurred. (stupid Canadian Amazon...)

I have a feeling that my wife might object...with the axe I got her!

Every superhero needs a female reporter in his stories. Your reviewer with her obviously politically correct inclinations would be a perfect model for Stabman's contemporary Lois Lane/ Vicky Vale.

Wow, Congrats stabman! Writing a book AND publishing it is quite the accomplishment. I'm actually currently working on trying to sell my fiance's novel that he self published. Do you have any tips or suggestions that have aided in your marketing?

I think she'd be more like J. Jonah Jameson, writing about the "Menace of Stabman." :D

I'm still learning the marketing angle. Social media is likely a good idea (like Facebook), and I paid for a press release to try to get word out there more. Unfortunately, just because the media outlets get the release does not mean they'll follow up on it at all.
Local bookstores are a great place to get your book into, as many are willing to feature local authors, generally under a consignment sales arrangement. I have one doing that so far, with another carrying it for a trial run, and another one pending (but looking good :)).

And don't forget to plug the book wherever you go; I sold two copies to the counter guy at the gym, and another to someone at work. I always have an extra copy or two with me, because you never know who'll buy it, and like someone said to me, it only takes that one right person to read it for the whole thing to jump to a new level. I've also donated a copy to a library, and plan to do so again.

I read a book about "Career Success Without Real Job", or some such thing. The author wrote that he spend 5 years promoting his first book until sales got to the point he wanted. Now, 15 or so years later, it nets him $15 thousand a year in royalties from that first book. I'm operating with the same plan, and I just won't shut up until my goal is met (and possibly not even then;)).

Thank you for your quick response! It looks like you and I are doing similar things, except I haven't done a press release yet. I've got one mostly composed, and once that's finished I'm going to work really hard on getting it out to as many people as possible. You paid someone to do yours? Do you think it was helpful?

I'm hoping the library here will accept the novel, they have a funky process for getting a book on the shelves. Gosh It's nice to see someone else working on their dreams too. I actually quit my job to do this for my fiance while he works, and sometimes I feel like I'm not getting anywhere. But I won't stop working on this!
