I have a question...

If it came to this point where the knife was returned to the OP in used/abused condition, why would the OP be required to refund? At that point, the buyer has taken full ownership of the knife. The OP would not only be out of the money he has refunded but his knife as well...

Firstly, he's not required to do what I suggested, it's only given as personal advice which he was soliciting...

Next, he actually wouldn't be out of a knife, since it got returned to him.

And Last, if the guy destroyed it before returning it...just how far do you think you're gonna get trying to deal with him further?

You're gonna demand he keep the knife and you ship it back to him-- now you're REALLY out a knife because he's gonna keep it this time and STILL demand a refund and PayPal's probably gonna side with him cause he's the buyer. Now you're in sh*t slingin match with a pig <you know how pigs love sh*t, right?> who's dishonest to begin with and you're stuck with the burden of proof...and that's why I said:

...write off the cost as the price of doing business with the public at large and tuition paid to the school of hard knocks.

Because...

... Life's too short.

to rage against the loss of a few bucks on a blade deal...karma will make up the difference, trust me on this one...cut your losses and move on. And if you find that you keep doing deals with fools who are always trying to get one over on you and costing you too much to write off easily, then it's time to find a new hobby, perhaps.

Glad to see a happy ending. Just want to share my positive experience of dealing with FanBoy. He listed for sale a ZT0562cf, which he revealed clearly had some minor up and down blade play. I bought it because of his honest description and of course his more than fair price. (BTW, I later sent the ZT to KAI. Needless to say the issue was fixed and the knife has been one of the sweetest in my collection).

To the poster asking about the weak detent issue - everyones definittion of the weak detent could be different. I find even with knives of "normal" detent strength, I can shake open their blades without much difficulty. However, flippers with weak detent often do not flip well. I find it usually help to certain extent by bending inward the lockbar carefully, though this may increase or result in lock stick.

I have done this many times, mostly with Benchmades as they have fantastic CS. Thay will get a beat up knife back into shape most times for free.
But I have gone into those deals expecting to send the knife in.
Don't mind doing that at all, as long as the seller gives an honest evaluation of the knife.

I sure in the heck wouldn't want to get into a sh*t slingin match with some BF pig...that's for damn sure.

BTW (Spark): BF's need's to add a whole lot more emoticon's to choose from (some pig ones would be great).
