I just ordered a limited edition bk16!

im as happy as a tick onna mutt's butt about this! month early heck yeah!

thanks for shedding some light on the subject mr. Ethan!

thanks for the info Ethan! im patiently waiting. I will admit, i havent bought and new Becker for quite awhile now.
that must mean im doing fine with the ones ive been using. ;)

The fact that the FPR and sig are STAMPED into the knife might be a deal breaker for me...I would be okay with having to wear off some 'decals' through some use but to have it texturally be part of the knife just sounds aesthetically unpleasant to me. Looks like it's back to waiting for the FFG release in (hopefully) April(ish). Til then it will be nice to see everyone putting theirs through the paces here on the forum.

Ethan and all..

Well, I just pulled the trigger on two of them- one BK16 and 2 BK17. I have worked my azz off the last 3-4 months and deserve a "treat". I also did not get a 50th birthday present in Feb, so these WILL SUFFICE..LOL..

I normally do not go in for Limited Edition knives. All my blades are working stiffs and I really do not like safe queens. These knives ,however are more than just specially marked knives, they also are rare early production design versions.

I bought the BK17 pretty much as a collector. I am going keep it NIB and download a hard copy of my "The BK17 just might be the best of the Tweeners thread" to put in the box for my little Nephew who is now 6 years old. I am sure he will get a kick out of the knife's history as well as Mr Becker's commentary in the thread. a TRUE peice of Becker/Kabar history.

As a side note, based on the number of knives still in stock, the BK17 IS outselling the BK16 by about 30%..

The BK16 will give it's life to Science. The grips will be used as patterns for high grade Wood ,Micarta and G10 grips down the road and the blade will be stripped and readied for cutting test comparisons to the full height grind production BK16 coming up.

With it's blade stripped ,polished and blued and a set of Burl Walnut grips in a Leather belt Sheath(most likely Skystorm) is should be absolutely gorgeous.

Mr Loveless smiles from up above.:)

They aren't stamped in, they're laser etched in, and aside from the FPR I'll be more than happy to keep it as is, with mods and (ab)use of course, but Mr. Becker's signature will stay there, even if I have to cut it through the blade, it will stay!

And once Ethan appears on the "SMK Tacticool knife show" on cable in a day or two, there will be NONE left very quickly..

It shows the exact quantity left in stock if your order more than what they have in stock.

I just punched in 250 of each and it shows the number left.

It's an old Indian trick.:D

Ah, gotcha. That 17 is bad ass looking. I'm more of a drop point knife fan, but that clip is screaming, "buy me".

Heck ,just buy it.

Support the US economy. Prevent yourself from agonizing over the same knife at double the price a few months from now on some online Auction site.;)

As the Nike ads say, "just do it".

...and backed by Kabar

i *almost* love that these knives are so desirable, there's already a flipper economy :)

almost.

:D

I almost bought the 17 over the 16, but I don't want a safe queen, which is what the 15 or 17 would be for me, to pretty for me to use.

Edit: WAIT WHAT DID YOU JUST SAY?!!!

Well, I can just wait for the regular production 17's to be released. I wanted that different grind on this 16.

u didnt know that? these are just presentation knives, to put in a display box, heck even touching them could warp the blade...the laser disrupts the steel at a molecular level, distorting the cells in an alarming manner.
